France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Single blind. Big candied black cherry nose that is the most overtly fruity aroma in the flight. Round, pure sweet cherry with velvety structure. Ready to go. Seems very 02.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Single blind. Lots of Gevrey character in the nose with meaty black cherry, toasted herbs and spice. The palate has so much dense and rich fruit with plenty of remaining structure. Felt very 99 with its structural backbone and room to age further.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Single blind. Rich and forward aromas of ripe cherry and spice. Palate follows suit with full-body and lots of fun, juicy, round black cherry. Seemed more 02 than 99.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Single blind. Easily my favorite is this 99/02 B/C Dugat flight. Wow, full nose of smoke, toasted herb, and sweet black cherry. The palate is similarly effusive and complex with sweet fruit and savory nuance. In a wonderful spot now.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Wow a stand out for its perfectly mature and complex Burgundy character. Layered and enticing aromas of earth, mushroom, smoked meat and dried black cherry. At peak on the palate with structure that is fully resolved into fruit that is fresh in body though so complex and nuanced.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
A bruiser. Ripe, rich aromas that are powerful though non-delineated. Rich, bold and assertive fruit on the palate with little nuance and brooding structure. Some debate as to whether this would improve.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Very Gevrey and very 2010. Pure black cherry, spice and emerging meatiness in the aromas. Palate is youthfully primary with layers of fruit, meat, spice and herbs. So fresh with dancing acidity. A complete wine in harmony already and upside from here.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
I liked this better than most. Attractive dried black cherry with smoke and meat aromas. Round black cherry with good meaty spice complexity. Structure is a bit coarse in the finish. One to drink now.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Attractive nose of sweet red cherry with lots of spice. The palate is rich and concentrated with bright, spicy nuance. Balanced with plenty of stuffing to sustain at this level.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Classically Gevrey with black cherry, smoked meat and spice. Perhaps with some florals interspersed. Yum. Round sweet, spice-filled fruit is harmonious and complete. Upside as this gains depth.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Single blind. Wow, compelling and unique nose that has loads of leafy stem character layered on top of meaty Gevrey black cherry. Palate is similarly complex with stem-induced herb. Balanced and complete with plenty of stuffing to age/improve.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
The least unique and somewhat of a wallflower next to the Serafin and Bachelet. More candied cherry here with approachable fruit. Easy drinking and four square.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Very typically Gevrey with meaty, spice, ripe black cherry fruit. The palate is more rustic and sauvage than the aromas would indicate. Lots of meatiness and firm structure. Not sure this gets better and I'd drink up now.

1999 Domaine Trapet Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Petite Chapelle
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
I cared for this far less than most of the group. The wine tasted quite tired with bitter structure and drying out roasted fruit.
