Casual white Burgundy that turned out to be quite serious for some wines. For the food, some hits, some misses but the carbs were the stars. The Cheong Fun and the Burnt Bee Hoon were the best dishes I think.

This bottling is a rare sight. Heavy on oak use, slightly advanced and lacking freshness but makes up for it with the sheer weight.

2013 Domaine Roulot Bourgogne-Aligoté

Didn't like this too much. Citrus fruits that were rather green, but at the same time exotic that gave it a disjointed palate. Despite a solid backbone, the wine came across as unbalanced without much intensity.

2017 Domaine Comtesse de Cherisey Meursault Bois de Blagny

Balanced, round texture that came across as slightly creamy but still retained a good spine of acidity. Someone said this maker used to make wine that tasted like licking rocks, but guess they have benefitted from global warming with their plots higher up in the village.

2015 Jean-Claude Ramonet Puligny-Montrachet

Similar impressions to the previous note on this wine on CT. Only wine that I got most of the details right, guessed Puligny from serious maker immediately. Have read that Ramonet 15s are overdone but this was perfect for me. More together than the 2017 which was painfully austere and disjointed.

2017 Emmanuel Rouget Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Blanc

Out of all the wines tonight, this would be most archetypal Burg. Any Burg lover could call this blind without a shadow of a doubt. Similar to the Roulot, some citrus and green fruits but this had much better vibrancy and acidity. Impressive weight for a Bourgogne.

Not as open-knit as the wonderful St Aubin I had a month back. Lots of reduction, still rather green, thin and oak has yet to integrate. Give it time to put on weight.

Slightly advanced and dominated by the oak, less balanced and complex than the Ponsot. Marred by slight bitterness to the finish.

2010 Domaine Weinbach Gewurztraminer Furstentum

This was a real treat. Wonderful floral perfume on the nose, some honeysuckle and chrysanthemum. Loads of residual sugar on this but didn't come off as cloying. Gewurtz doesn't have the steeliness of Riesling but the brilliant rich texture of this made for a wonderful drink.
