• 2020 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis 1er Cru Vaulorent

  France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru

  Medium minus intensity aromas show a little gun flint smokiness, muted citrus and stone fruit in support, very slightly nutty underpin. Sourly juicy, tight, a slight sense of breadth, muted fruit here as well as some non intrusive alcohol warmth on the long finish. <shrugs>

  Medium minus intensity aromas of a touch of wild nectarine, lemon with a touch of lime, Juicy, fleshy, a little textured burr but quite lightweight fruit profile, it's a bit meh for me especially at AUD250 a bottle.

• 2021 Domaine Agnes et Didier Dauvissat Petit Chablis Les Deux Terres

  France, Burgundy, Chablis, Petit Chablis

  slight green citrus notes; lime; lemon, backed by a little creamy lees and floral top notes. Medium plus intensity acidity, tangy and (for a petit Chablis) quite concentrated and fruit forward. A little short but fresh and charming.

• 2021 Domaine Agnes et Didier Dauvissat Chablis Les Breches de Fye

  France, Burgundy, Chablis

  A little stone fruit lozenge quality sits beneath the citrus notes, like the Petit Chablis a touch of floral lift and creaminess but this time joined by a smidge of struck match. Juicy, rich, quite concentrated, good acid line, fruit drops off a little quickly leaving drying tannic burr. Hmm.

  Richest nose so far today, a little oaky sweet spice supports stone fruit. Hints of smoked bacon fat here as well. Medium plus intensity acidity, fruit persists joined by sweet spice, textured burr helps carry that fruit long Nice.

  Struck match/bacon fat reductiveness over discernible lemon and a smidge of green apple, cream. Juicy, a little anonymous fruit on the palate but an impression of fruit sweetness. Short but pleasant.

  A touch of greenness initially on the nose (early harvest?) lime, lime pith, lemon…opens with agitation to show touches of sherbet. And it proves a little green, for me, on the palate, sourly juicy and textured, quite foursquare and blocky. Nah

  Again it's very green, an almost ashy whole bunchy quality. Not a very nice nose. And equally bad on the palate, not flawed just not right.

  Slightly anonymous stone fruit, melange, a little oak, sweet spice, again that slightly dusty quality. Juicy, fleshy, grippy, slightly drying tannic burr, fruit muted but travels long. Meh.

  A slight lime underpin to lemon and orange, dusty, sweet spice, touch of fruit lozenge with time. Juicy acidity, muted fruit and slightly grippy drying texture. Not out of whack but it's just a bit meh for a Grand Cru.

  Struck match, touch of stone fruit, slight sweet spice. Juicy tends to medium plus intensity acidity, fleshy, generously fruited, a little slightly woody textured burr. Slightly non-intrusive alcohol warmth on the finish, concentrated. Yum but quite large for a Chablis (especially in this line-up)

  Green apple, slight lime with a herbaceous underpin, very slight struck match. Medium plus intensity acidity, slight green underpin to the apple fruit, plenty of textured burr, a little sulphur here as well. It's a bit out of whack for me.

  Again those ashy whole bunch notes, almost smoke taint, dominates the nose. Sourly juicy, bitter, pretty awful stuff.

And this was a fairly confusing and slightly disappointing tasting...a few nice wines but a lot of frankly odd drops...the very green/ashy quality was plain weird...
