Pnp. Cool red fruits, blueberry, floral. Consistent on the palate with lots of red fruits, cool, linear. Soft silky tannins with a hint of mint on the finish. Drinking beautifully right now with a light body. First time trying this cuvee from Fourrier.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Almost tawny in colour, Med intensity aroma, burnt rubber, meat, iron notes. Light weight on the palate when first popped but slowly gain weight about an hour later, hint of iron, earth with touch of stems. Good acid core and fine tannins. Could age for a few more years to develop more tertiary flavors.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Blind. Blue fruits, slight notes of ripe fruits, touch modern in the style. Palate had lots of transparency, lacks weight with sandy tannins. Stylistically different from the 2013 bottling from different plots I had. This was clean, and transparent not the rustic, dense style earlier. Apparently there is a change in winemaker with the next generation taking over.
Blind. 50% Chardonnay. 50% Pinot Noir, Bottled Jul 2003, Disgorged Sept 2014. Bottle 02863. Tasted a little off, sweet, plastic notes. Definitely not the same level as the bottle I had last year.
Blind. Wow, the nose from this had white flowers, lily. Rounded on the palate, tasting like white wine but plenty of weight ending with a grapefruit finish. Bottled low pressure, some estimate 2-3 bars instead of the 6 bars. Finish was a little short. Did not guess it was not a champagne but something feels a little different. First time trying Ultramarine, I now understand the hype but with current prices, not sure I would buy them.
Blind. Orange on the rims suggested it was old. Intoxicating nose of sour cherry, floral, rose. Palate was broad, clean and transparent. Initially thought this was a burgundy but the dusty tannins and strong acid pointed it the other way. Slowly in the glass, it reveals more tar and Barolo like tannins. Very impressive with the way it is drinking despite the age.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru
Blind. Decanted since mid noon, the nose was expressive of cherry, floral, blueberry with a touch of oak. Palate had oak, slightly modern, ripe fruits sandy tannins with good acid. After the reveal, the wine was probably showing the characteristics of vintage with producer influence.
