Lemon peel, smoke and oyster shell on the nose. Very fine acidity, lovely purity and lift to the palate. Vibrant with excellent length and balance. Exciting wine to drink.
Blind. Ginger, white florals, smoke and pear on the nose with a touch of herb in the background. Plenty of texture on the palate to go along with the fruit sweetness that punches through. Feels good to drink now.
Honey and kerosene, orange peel and apple on the nose. Acid is starting to round out on the palate, turning quite honeyed already. Feels like this is ready to go in the near future based on this bottle
Pear, white floral, slate and lemon aromas. Fresh with mineral kick to the palate, quite lean in style but still feels well balanced. Would be nice if this fleshes out more with a bit of age.
Lemon, orange peel, straw and mandarin aromas and flavours. The palate has good power to it, quite intense on the fruit side but has good dimension and carry. Feels well put together and should benefit from some medium term ageing.
Oyster shell, talc, pear and green apple aromas on the nose. Delicate on the palate, with fine acidity and lithe fruit. Feels very youthful still and is supported well in structure. Another 10 years feels like it would be appropriate here.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Rose petals, cherry, raspberry and musk lollies, spice and oak notes as well - really pretty and fine nose. Palate is pretty and light on its feet as well, really settled and composed. Drinking fantastically well right now.
Blind. Stalks, pepper, tobacco and ash on the nose. Palate is lithe and has delicate fruit, a good acid kick and plenty of savoury spice. Lots going on but feels like it might be best drunk now in case any of the elements drop out of sync.
Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
Raspberry, blueberry, fresh floral lift and some spice as well. Good acid and very clean and pure fruit, good lift and flow across its length. Feels like this is poised to improve further with another 6-7 years but its good now as well.
Blackberry, ash, meat and cherry on the nose. Savoury on the palate with some herbs and spice. Nicely put together and good interest even at this young stage.
Cherry, roses and a light touch to the nose. Clean palate, flows nicely and cuts through the fruit with strong acidity and finds balance. Always solid winemaking here.
Graphite, spice, smoke, slate and cherry with tar in the background. Palate has density but retains some verve and freshness. Good length and the components here feel like they are tracking well but its still early days.
Blind. Bright and light floral nose, with cherry, raspberry and redcurrant following. Medium weighted palate, quite light fruit profile and the structure is present but not forceful. Really good length to this. Drinking really nicely now.
Smoky, blackberry, strawberry and slate on the nose. Oak and tannins drive the palate, heavily structured right now with the fruit tight and taut. Should certainly come around with time but it’s not ready to be tackled right now. Score on potential rather than enjoyment now.
Cherry/kirsch, ash and smoke with some blackcurrant and raisin aromas as well. Dense and punchy black fruits on the palate, though it does strike remarkable balance with the alcohol and structure all playing their part. Should be long lived.
Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Clare Valley
Spices, raspberry and some menthol aromas on the nose. Palate is lifted, with savoury spice and great drive and balance - really impresses how much interest gets packed into the frame. Great length and detail to the fruit here.
Apple pie, lime, lemon and apricot on the nose. Lovely apricot botrytis fruit on the palate, quite honeyed and luscious. Holds the line well and carries the sweetness with fine acidity. No complexity to it just yet, but still very tasty.
Cherry, blackcurrant, smoky charred oak and blueberry on the nose. The palate is sweet fruited with both red and black fruits standing strong. Doesn’t feel too overbearing but it’s definitely a dense, full style of wine.
