Introduction

Six of us gathered for a little soire at All Saints in Mpls (ML/BL, KB/VB, SS, DM). The theme skewed to whites as the veg friendly menu lends otself that direction. It was a nice grouping of wines. Thanks everyone!

Flight 1 (6 Notes)

  • 2002 Lanson Champagne Noble Cuvée de Lanson Brut 93 Points

    France, Champagne

Light gold color. Drank a glass over an hour. This was brighter and more expressive than a bottle from 4 years ago. Aging gracefully and showing nicely. Green apple, chalk, bread dough, mild toast. On the palate this has a nice tang, apple, aplle peel, biscuit, dough, and just touch of an oxidative note. 92+ to 93pts.

  • 2014 Didier Dagueneau Blanc Fumé de Pouilly

France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Pouilly-Fumé

Light gold plus color. Followed a glass over 90 minutes. A little oxidative and flat, flint, tart citrus, dry extract. Seemed better to start, but didn't hold up well. Probably 88 when opened.

  • 2010 Patrick Jasmin Côte-Rôtie 91 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie

Medium dark red color. PNP, drank a glass over an hour. Lots of funk and horse barn on the nose, then leather, with dry forest floor notes and woody-sandalwood perfume. The palate shows some juicy red fruits that were more subtle on the nose, funky earth, dried wood spice, medium bodied and rather elegant. I'm not sure this has a long life ahead. 91+ to 92pts.
