In May I went to his house to select some of his wines for a tasting with our tasting group. The tasting was scheduled for 21 September, but unfortunately Piet died before the tasting took place. His sons donated the bottles to our tasting group, so we could have the tasting after all. Thank you!
It was a beautiful tasting in a good atmosphere and we will miss Piet and his humor.
1999 La Dame de Montrose 90 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Mature bouquet with forest floor, red berries and mushrooms. On the palate still some red berries and good, fresh and juicy acidity. Round tannin with still a pleasant bite. Overall a beautiful, elegant and mature wine.
