Dark red and black fruit on the nose. Showing depth and density with wet soil, a touch of spice, and tobacco. On the palate this is seamless, powerful and structured. It’s got a lot of power for its age and will continue to drink well for at least 10-15 years. Great bottle.

Still very much alive. Pours fairly dark with a bit of bricking and noticeable sediment. Red fruits, graphite, cedarwood and some faint pipe tobacco. Elegant, almost floral at times. There is a serious and taut side to it. Medium bodied, balanced, with some bitey tannin present. Good, but very poor value.

Decanted for an hour and may have needed more time. This showed young, and more primary than previous bottles. Some light herbal peppery notes initially that faded with a little air. Half a bottle left to try tonight, and I am curious how it will show with more air.
This drank well on the second day, but it never showed any earthy complexity that previous bottles showed. I’ll hold my last bottle for a while.

Samples from Bill #8: Cassis, blackcurrant, cedar and smoky barnyard on the nose. Palate is still quite structured, though the fruit is mellowing out - still finds balance though. Classic profile lovely now.

In memoriam Bordeaux tasting for Piet Kuiper (@ RvD): In the bouquet chocolate and rose hips as well as forest floor. On the palate juicy dark and red berries, rose hips again, autumn forest and beautiful acidity and tannin. Luxurious wine. For me personally this was the wine of the night.
