  • NV Krug Champagne Brut Grande Cuvée Édition 168ème 94 Points

    France, Champagne

    Glass: Riedel Superleggero Champagne
From Magnum. Clear, medium golden color. Nose already open and quite mature, some nice red fruit, brioche.
Already open for business! Beautiful tension, nice pressure, very balanced and nice energy. More red than yellow fruit, some citrus notes, fine mousseux, long. A bit better (riper) than 170eme. 93-94

Flight 4 (1 Note)

  • NV Krug Champagne Brut Grande Cuvée Edition 166eme 91 Points

    France, Champagne

    Glass: Riedel Superleggero Champagne
From Magnum. Clear, medium golden color. Nose with some fine caramel, brioche, ripe and deep. On the palate very ripe, caramel, a bit sweet, not as long and complex as 168eme, a bit broad, but nevertheless round and balanced. Probably not the best bottle or vintage? 90-91

    France, Champagne

    Glass: Riedel Superleggero Champagne
From Magnum. Clear, pale salmon color. Fine nose with lots of red berries and floral notes. On the palate mineral and with some energy, fruity, balanced and harmonious. But it also lacked tension, depth and length. Quite disappointing on a high level for this price point. 90-91

  • NV Krug Champagne Brut Grande Cuvée 90 Points

    France, Champagne

    Glass: Riedel Superleggero Champagne
Magnum, assumed from the 90ies. Clear, deep golden color. Ripe nose. On the palate a bit sweet, slightly oxidized, lacks energy and tension. But still balanced and harmonious with a lively acidity. A bit past, but still joyful. 90

Flight 10 (1 Note)

  • 2008 Dom Pérignon Champagne 91 Points

    France, Champagne

    Glass: Riedel Superleggero Champagne
From Magnum, tasted blind - Pirate. Clear, pale golden color. Very spicy, yeasty nose, a bit reductive, deep.
On the palate creamy, fresh, very young and juicy and deep. But also very sweet and simple. Lacks energy and tension.
We discussed, if this is even Champagne... Such a surprise to see what it actually was. I love DomPi 08, especially from Mag, but in this lineup I found it really, really weak. 90-91

Flight 11 (1 Note)

  • 2008 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut 92 Points

    France, Champagne

    Glass: Riedel Superleggero Champagne
Clear, medium pale golden color. Herbaceous nose, yeasty, fresh lots of green apple, floral notes.
On the palate compared to the previous DomPi 08 bone dry, great energy, high, a bit unbalanced energy, tart, lots of green apple. A bit strenuous to drink right now. Needs probably a decade to blend in and develop elegance. 92-93

Flight 12 (1 Note)

  • 2008 Taittinger Champagne Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut 95 Points

    France, Champagne

    Glass: Riedel Superleggero Champagne
Tasted completely blind, Pirate. Clear, youthful golden color. Beautiful deep, smoky, dense and complex nose. On the palate the way better version of Krug 08. Round, elegant, harmonious, beautiful mousseux and great tension and weightless power. Very long! Best 08 Comtes I had so far. 94-95

Flight 13 (1 Note)

  • 2006 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut 93 Points

    France, Champagne

    Glass: Riedel Superleggero Champagne
Clear, pale golden color. Nice, fresh and youthful nose, a bit closed.
On the palate very precise, elegant, round and creamy, fine mineral notes, extract sweetness. Lacks a bit of pressure and tension to be really great, especially after the truly great 08 Comtes. But it has upscale potential. 93+

Flight 14 (1 Note)

  • 2006 Krug Champagne Clos du Mesnil 94 Points

    France, Champagne

    Glass: Riedel Superleggero Champagne
Tasted blind, note is based on two bottles we had this night. Clear, pale golden color. Fine, elegant nose, still a bit muted and not fully open.
On the palate very elegant and fine, round, balanced, high acidity, good tension, some bitter notes, almonds and strange marzipan. Really suprised to see what it was! Even after revealing it, it did not get "better" :) Very, very good Champagne, but not an epiphany. 93-94

Flight 16 (1 Note)

  • 2003 Bollinger Champagne 2003 by Bollinger 88 Points

    France, Champagne

    Glass: Riedel Superleggero Champagne
Tasted blind - Pirate. Clear, medium golden color. Ripe, advanced, rather tired nose. On the palate creamy, ripe, lots of caramel, sweet, marzipan, a bit of cellar mold perhabs. Thought of very old Moet. Weakest bottle of the night. 88

Flight 17 (1 Note)

  • 1988 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut 94 Points

    France, Champagne

    Glass: Riedel Superleggero Champagne
Tasted blind - Pirate. Clear, medium amber color. Very warm, ripe and advanced nose with fine caramel notes.
On the palate you could feel its age, but it was wonderfully balanced and round, provided great elegance and finesse, the high acidity was still alive and kicking and even though there were some signs of oxidation it was juicy and very joyful to drink. Very long and fine, complex finish. What a wonderful surprise! 94-95

Flight 18 (1 Note)

  • 1988 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut Collection 93 Points

    France, Champagne

    Glass: Riedel Superleggero Champagne
Tasted blind - pirate. Clear, medium amber color. Way fresher nose than the 88 Vintage. On the palate a bit weird. You could sense that it has some age, but it was also very fresh. For me, this tension field made it a bit unbalanced. But it was very good: Beautiful energy and tension, extract and salty mineral notes. But it lacks the harmony and elegance of the 88 Vintage for me. Nevertheless a wonderful experience to taste these two bottles side by side. 93-94
