The Ledbury, London
Tasted Thursday, January 21, 2010 by Rupert with 867 views
The ten most recent vintages drunk with a specially devised dinner menu. (There were two tables of eight, each with their own bottles - Simon G was on the other table, so his CT notes relate to different bottles.) The wines were all very attractive, but I have enjoyed them more in the past without the distraction of multiple vintages. This was in contrast to the Rousseau dinner last November where the vertical format brought out the singular ethereal character of his CSJ.
In due course, the 2005, 1999 and 2006 might turn out to be the real superstars, but on the night my favourites were from the lighter vintages - the 2002 and the 1998 especially.
There's a thread on this event at www.wine-pages.com/forum.
