Since cellar is rather full with 15 bottles incoming in 2018, no vino. Just craft beer. New Belgium Trippel Ale for Dear Husband. 8% alcohol by volume. About $9 at Sprouts, where the clerk decided I was born in 1985. Only off by 20+ years, but I'm eligible to purchase for sure.

One of these days I have to begin selectively tasting beer. But for now there's just too much wine that is compelling.

Beer Cheers!

Oh goodness... I dealt with all my Burgundy orders. Might be more if some merchants get me a few rare allocations (though I doubt they will now):

2016 Domaine Jaeger-Defaix Rully 1er Cru Clos du Chapitre (based on Jancis recommending it for more easy drinking)
2016 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Mazoyères-Chambertin (not sure what brought this one on...... but must have been slightly justified, surely?)
2016 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles
2016 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Saint Georges
2016 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Gevrey-Chambertin (tasted it, loved it)
2016 Domaine de Montille Volnay 1er Cru Taillepieds (tasted it and decided it was my Lafarge backup.... I have no Lafarge yet so, yeah this)
2016 Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Au Closeau (no idea..... good producer, good vintage.... a punt)
2016 Maison Albert Bichot Echezeaux Domaine du Clos Frantin (tasted it, loved it)
2016 Georges Lignier et Fils Clos St. Denis (wine merchant twisted my arm)
2016 Domaine Maume-Marchand-Tawse Mazis-Chambertin (wine merchant twisted my arm)

2012 Olivier Bernstein Chambertin (backfilling while I can still delusionally afford it)
2014 Olivier Bernstein Chambertin (backfilling while I can still delusionally afford it)
2010 Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Grèves Vigne de L'Enfant Jesus (another backfill)
2015 Bernard Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes (a 2015 I missed before but thought I should have)

My No Girls offer sat on the computer for a couple of weeks. Finally said "what the heck" and hit the buy button. Now can I restrain myself on Berserker Day and not buy any more for a couple of months.

Stopped at Wine Connection in Pound Ridge NY on the way home to pick up an order, and decided to give a shot to 2015 Michel Sarrazin Bougogne.

I would highly recommend to track down a ‘75 or ‘62 Unico.

My daughter loves Rose but I didn’t want to send her to pick up a case without trying it, and for me, this is an unknown wine. Granted, one likely to be good. So, I’ll try it...

K&L has a case of the '62 for a mere $18,000.

Not of the hommage, but a decent deal and the fact that so far beaucastel just seems to be my style in CDP... couldn’t resist! I haven’t actually ever tasted an hommage... what are your thoughts?

‘70 is outstanding too and probably cheaper, had it once many years ago.

I received the offer, too. And the multiple releases cited in the e-mail makes me wonder. Why not release several varietals at the same time and offer discounts on half- and full-case shipping? Without those perks, I'm unlikely to consider the vintner. Too bad, but that's my criteria. Especially for an unknown...

A nice little Champagne haul from a private sale. Bottles are pristine, and I'm pretty excited:

2 x NV Krug Grand Cuvee (375ml)
2 x 2003 Dom Perignon
1 x NV Gaston Chiquet Brut Tradition
1 x Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage Brut Rose
1 x 2008 Soutiran Grand Cru
2 x 2002 Bollinger La Grande Annee Brut

These nine little lovelies for $745.

3 x 100 corks. I have the bottles but I'd run out of corks. Ordered some on-line a month ago, they arrived smelling like wet dog, so we sent those back. Today I found some decent quality ones at my local wine supply. No odors and nice smooth finish. I guess we will bottle some wine this weekend.

It is sinking in with me that casually bottling 20-25 cases of home brew seems like a fun weekend, and I have opened as grand total of 1 bottle of wine made outside my house this month. We are becoming wine hermits.

No wine, but just bought a 2017 Lexus ES with 50 miles on it. Wasn't really in the market but about 5 weeks ago some young thing decided it was OK to turn left from a parking lot without looking for traffic on a two lane per side road. So my Mercedes became a junkyard parts source. Enough money left to go to BDIX and get me some wine.

Especially in Jersey which is like Ahole Central Not sure why that is ??? Both of the worst people I ever worked for were from Jersey. I know we can't generalize but 2 for 2? The East Coast management style is a complete FAIL out West. The beat 'em up in meetings, never smile at staff, negative management style I've never seen work. Some people try to put round pegs in square holes also.

Population density and competitiveness. New Jersey is the most densely populated state, which leads to crazy traffic (stress) and a lot of competitive situations (more stress).

I've found once I get outside the NorthEast corridor (particularly south of Richmond or west of Exton / West Chester) people get MUCH nicer. The whole Boston to D.C. stretch is just too jam packed with people ready to flip you off, curse you out, or even worse, over the slightest little thing.

I remember the first time I drove in North Carolina. I was sitting in the driveway of a convenience store, waiting for a gap in traffic to pull onto the road. Somebody actually stopped for the red light early to wave me out in front of them. I was puzzled - who would do that? Were they up to something? Why do they want me in front of them? Nobody does that! ....after a few days in Murphy (near Asheville) I realized people are just nice like that. Not in Joizey! Even people from the western suburbs of Philadelphia know that the city and NJ has plenty of stressed out mean people.
