So right about NJ. Don’t miss it all. Often wonder if the last one out will turn off the lights.

To conclude my wine buying week I waited just about to the end of the window for Horsepower.

Cran,

People weren't meant to live with so many in close proximity of each other, it brings out the worst in people. There are issues commuting in San Diego now which is great that I no longer have to do that. People cut you off left and right but once out of their cars people are generally nice.

I spent 6 weeks in NYC for training years ago and coming from the West Coast there was a noticeable difference between the people. NYC (not all of them) have a certain abruptness about them. They seem to enjoy getting in your face and telling you off. This doesn't usually happen here unless you do something really stupid. I can usually tell somebody from the East Coast. They are always trying to make eye contact with you and engage you in conversation. Out here people generally keep to themselves. If you engage somebody they will talk to you, otherwise they'll just keep to themselves. I like that.

First Berserker Day purchase. Probably won't buy that much but I'm in for a Big Basin Syrah 3 Pack. I know this winery but haven't tried any of their wines so wanted to check them out. It's a 2010, 2012 & 2013 so a couple I can drink right away.

Rick

Placed orders for 4 different 2015 Bordeaux after trying the wines at the UGC tasting, but am waiting to hear if the stores will be able to actually source the wines.

Which ones? Curious since I attended the UGC in San Fran.

I am going to add L'Arrivet Haut-Brion and Ch. Dauzac to what I have ordered already..... Maybe Suduiraut

Yep, i "requested" 6 bottle lots from L'Arrivet Haut-Brion, Lynch Moussas & Maucaillou. From a different retailer i requested the new red from the lady (the cute one) who was pouring the Leoville Barton, it's her new red from somewhere in that area called something Barton....can't remember, it was only $20 each bottle, and also not at the tasting BTW.

Past couple of weeks I've been working at rebuilding my holiday-depleted cellar with $30-$50 wines that will age easily until 2030+. Feel pretty good about the solid citizens I've lined up for that duty! The Whitehall Lane Cab might not age quite as long, but was too much of a bargain to pass up :)

6x 2012 Whitehall Lane Cabernet Sauvignon Leonardini Estate
4x 2015 Domaine Huet Vouvray Demi-Sec Le Mont
2x 2015 Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux Le Haut-Lieu
1x 2015 Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux 1ère Trie Le Haut-Lieu
2x 2016 Domaine Huet Vouvray Sec Clos du Bourg
3x 2013 Marcarini Barolo Brunate
3x 2013 Marcarini Barolo La Serra
3x 2013 Renato Ratti Barolo Marcenasco
2x 2013 Vietti Barolo Castiglione
2x 2014 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco
3x 2014 Château Chasse-Spleen
2x 2015 Château Grand-Puy Ducasse

I assume this means you'll come up and kick some cobblestones in May. It's looking like a fun party.

7 x 2012 JJ Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett.

Running low on the 2007, so have to look to more recent vintages to fill the void. These were below my preset price threshold so I took all the store had.

Had lunch in UTC close to my go to Wine Shops. Went into one of them to see if the 2015 Kobalt Cab was released yet? No luck. Will be released in the next couple of weeks. They had 2014 which I already have so picked up more:

2014 K Vintners The Deal Sundance Syrah

For $28 a bottle, no brainer. This purchase also put my cellar at over 30% Syrah. Getting close to my California Cab bottles and about HALF the dollar amount invested. If Cab prices keep going higher my cellar might mostly Syrah at some point. Or Brunello.

I am on the list, but have stopped buying. It is not my style as I have been corrupted by Burgundy, but I have to say their wines do drink better with more age on them.
