And believe it or not snowing in Seattle on the 3rd day of November.

I am a hater of many things, most Rosé being some of them, but that Seven Hills is always nice. Enjoy!

I am currently sipping a 2008 Madiran after slurping down a lovely French onion soup cooked by my lovely French wife, and now the log fire is burning and it is cold outside. Autumn is here.

Of course, my children are being horrible, but lets not spoil the groove.

FFP was a 2013 Groth Cabernet followed by three other bottles. But I am in no position to post those at the moment.

1927 Alvear PX - still wonderful after more than a week in the fridge. Figs, raisins, dates, a little coffee, and some cocoa butter.

Haven't had any Sinskey in quite a while. Your impressions would be welcome.

Ours:

Barrel 27 Syrah, 2012, Santa Barbara County, "Head Honcho". Seems perfect for the now-cooler evenings.

Cheers!

That Sylvaner had some fine moments. Probably the best Sylvaner I've ever had. The Grüners were the two best bottles there, and leftovers from two different events.
I was quite fond of the Manzanilla with the sandwich as well.

A Manhattan family riff.
I'm calling it Carmona Capone. Basically 2/1/.5, w 2 dashes Peychaud's, stirred w ice and strained with a Maraschino cherry garnish.

Her Ladyship rated it 5 stars.
Kansas City folks may get the Capone connection.

Opened a simple red wine from Wisconsin last night and it was the perfect Bourgogne substitute at half the price. The old French "hybrid" Marechal Foch can make some amazing wines when in the right hands.

Karl, thanks for the info on the WI wine. Have had some Marechal Foch in IN wine blends and it is an interesting grape.

Cookie, I join you in having had a "crap-tastic" day if there is emphasis on the crap part.

Had a change from the planned red to an unplanned white last night for FFP. Will continue the white tonight.

Friday Final Pour was opening my first bottle of 2010 Eight Bells Yakima Valley Red Willow Vineyard Clonal Block Syrah. Massive richly fruited with excellent mouth aromatics and iron mineral substrate. Has 5% grenache.
