so last night we added second bottles of the Chambertin and the Pegau plus an 05 Dr Loosen Riesling BA and a 63 Warre's Port

small correction to Dave's post. The Burgs were paired with the spice crusted pork roast. The Lamb went with the Pegau and the Priorat

Scott's cooking was absolutely masterful.

1990 Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon
1990 Champagne Bollinger, R. D.

Never thought there could be "so much" in Champagne. Didn't get it before, now I do.

2003 Vougeot 1er Cru “Clos Blanc de Vougeot”, Domaine de la Vougeraie (magnum)

Well, first of all thank GOD it was a magnum. Extraordinary. Never had anything quite like it. Was it the best white wine of my life? Yes it was.

1990 Sauternes, 1er Cru Classé Supérieur, Château d’Yquem
1993 Tokaji Esszencia, Château Pajzos

What a pair this was. A great depth of spicy, ripe fruit in the d'Yquem. Another one of those wines where the balance of sweetness and acidity is a thing of beauty.

The Tokaji.... Holy **** that was good! The concentration is such that you cannot take a small enough sip to prevent taste from exploding in your mouth. Just touching the tip of your tongue to it, then bringing your tongue back into your mouth, will do it

The professional chefs in Charleston are going to have to bring their A game to even compete with Mr. & Mrs. S1.

Coming from you, Dennis, that carries even more weight. Something tells me they'll be challenged. On a busy Friday night, my money is on Mr&Mrs S1.

I think we're in Tabby Courtyard because it has a large table. How about clean out the riff raff before I get there.
I hope you brought stems. Otherwise you get to drink from "the glass of shame"

I suspect that any wine listed in this entire thread would likely end up as my wine of the year. Hard to believe that your weekend has just begun...looking forward to reading about the rest of it!

Okay, I am just on the verge of becoming functional. I had this wonderful dream last night.... Oh I now recall this was real, but had all the making of a life long memory and a proper gauge for what perfect really is. The pork loin, the lamb shank, the appetizers, the great cheeses. I do feel as if I was blown away. Time to recharge on fresh fruit and maybe a salad, then off to the King's Court for some more juice.

On a technical note.. I don't know why the picture is so small. I put it a half size on flickr and pasted the image address. I still don't know how to change sizes of thing I post on the forums. It is more like a lottery determines how large the picture will be when I fill in the image- -image spot. I will try and figure this out.

Gotta run, need more food and wine.

Oh Tim, Tim, Tim.... You should have been there. You definitely would have been enthralled. Scott and his wife would have made khmark7 proud, the way they sped back and forth from the kitchen; and with the food, I think Scott outdid himself, which is, to say least, saying something.

Oh My Fecking God was this afternoon unbelievable. After drinking some 18 wines this after noon Scott and Pam lead us on a non-forced road march up to the Grocery restaurant. The food and pairings would make Nero, Caligula et al jealous! Seriously, the wines were fantastic. I brought a pint of Hennessy Privileged just to make sure there was no inconsistencies in the human body's ABV. After that serious aroma of heat, woody vanilla and cherry, the 1928 Maury blew my mind. Seriously this wine was destined for American shores until "The Great Gatsby era," came to a close a depression set in. The grapes used to make this were grown before my parents were born. The Cognac only enhanced the amazing youth in the glass. Very unexpected, as I was worried about corking and other issues. Yes I walked home through "The Garden of Good and Evil," and I get why Larry the driver of the town car told us that the ratio of beautiful college girls to average young men was 7 to 1. I didn't believe him at first, but my walk home proved that parties were a hoppin' in every converted French style home in the land of the beautiful people. The words like "Ambrosia" or food of the Gods were in my mind all night long. , from heaven had poured upon us, all for the cost of a simple 2nd growth from St. Julien, and not LLC or DB. Anthony Barton would have smiled in the fact that we had such a good time. Just OMG, and I look forward to all the food coming at midnight. I wouldn't expect less in "the Garden." I need to go to Austin and try their off-lines.... This bar is raised oh so high!
