Like a zombie on the Walking Dead before getting a machete to the head, the Hallowed Annual CellarTracker Tradition of Last Puppy Night is back!

Per the description from Khamen in the original event, the following are the rules:

quote:

Simple rule - on Friday 28th of April, you have to pop a bottle that you only have ONE of in the cellar - whether it's a singleton purchase or a bin end. Whether it's a special bottle or the last of a daily drinker pile is down to you.

Post on this thread what it was and how it was.

Together we can drink our way to a tidier cellar!

Who is in?

K

We've been fairly liberal in allowing the consumption of the Last Puppy to occur anytime during the weekend.

Who's with me?

Here are the prior threads:

2012 Edition

2013 Edition

2014 Edition (yes, we missed 2014, because, well... the link sums it up)

2015 Edition

2016 Edition

I think it'll have to be Sunday the 30th, looking at the calendar... This isn't a difficult one for us to participate in, since almost half of our bottles are "last puppies."

This is fun. Better for me than OTBN because the angst of drinking the Last Puppy sometimes outweighs a OTBN candidate. I'll pick a nice one or two from what is likely a pretty long list. Off to research a bit.

A quick look shows I have approximately 330 singletons. Picking one should not be an issue.

Oh I might be up for this. Let me see what singletons I have -- or if I can alter my consumption patterns in the next few weeks to create a singleton......

Like DonTime, I have plenty of singles from which to choose. I'm in, but reserve the right to post when the bottle is finished. Rarely do we enjoy one in a single day.

CT Wine Event Cheers!

Can't play this year, though I suppose I could ask the som at La Bouquinistes if he's got a singleton of something interesting lying around…

Read this tonight. Seemed to be topic-related, and interesting. IMHO, collecting is about the experience.

If my current CT inventory is correct (hint: it isn't), I have a whopping 199 singletons to choose from. Time to start winnowing this list down a bit.

You know, because it's either that or get some actual work done, and that's less fun.

I'm still in, but will be combining a delayed Easter celebration w/Last Puppy about a week later. Special cuisine, special wine, etc. Just works better for the two of us. Why not?

Meanwhile, will enjoy reading the LP exploits of others.

LP Cheers!

The selection process is over, and Schrader's 2009 Double Diamond Amber Knolls Vineyard has been chosen.

I'll be having mine tonight as my wife is out at a dinner and the kids are elsewhere...

Ducru Beaucaillou 1994

It will go well with my rib eye and salad... and it is only 12% alcohol so perfect for a single drinker! Had 2/3s of a bottle of something Toscana Rosso yesterday that was 14.5% and I am still feeling it...

It would be infanticide to consume the majority of my singles right now, but I have one bottle of 2011 Lagier-Meredith Mondeuse Noir that fits the bill nicely.

I think it'll have to be Sunday the 30th, looking at the calendar... This isn't a difficult one for us to participate in, since almost half of our bottles are "last puppies."

I'm still thinking Saturday or Sunday will be best for us. Leaning towards 2010 Passopisciaro if my wife can finally kick the head cold that's been lingering for three weeks now...something a bit humbler if not.

Nothing wrong with an early start to the festivities! The rules are more suggestions, as it were. Kind of like the moratorium guidelines.

I'll likely be opening my as-yet-to-be-determined Last Puppy on Saturday night. I was thinking of my last bottle of 2008 Passopisciaro, but since I just opened a 2012 a couple of nights ago, I'll likely go with another option. So many choices!

Looks like LPN offers flexible scheduling. Whatever works....I think the point is to enjoy the process and the wine. Good excuse, like we need one.

Ah, but we sometimes DO need an excuse to drink that last bottle of something, so here it is!

I think I'll probably open my last bottle of 2012 Broc Cellars Cabernet Franc. This may be my favorite all Cab Franc wine.

Oooh I agree that 12 Broc CF was a fantastic wine...sadly I blew through mine long ago.

Tonight for Last Puppy it's going to be a 2004 Domaine Bois de Boursan Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée des Félix looking forward to it.

Was going to open my only (ever!) bottle of Pontet-Cadet. But my wife is making rockfish, so that's not a good match. Will open that tomorrow with ribs.
