ORIGINAL: TexasWineGeek Mj, Not certain either, except that in our case, after drinking the Phantom we both had headaches and my girlfriend had a rash. She stated that 'some' red wines caused her to break out in a red rash but it rarely happens. Now I hope this dosen't come off as obnoxious but it only seems to happen to her with the 'lower end' wines. Is there something they put in these wines that isn't in the higher end wines that would cause this reaction? Although sulfites and tannins are often (mistakenly) given credit for this type of reaction, I read somewhere a few months ago that iron content could be the real culprit. And when it comes to headaches, alcohol is usually the villian Fingers, I had forgotten the Iron issue and that does make more sense from a medical perspective. Alcohol, hell we drink many 15+ % without incident so I really don't think it's the alcohol. It is a shame because it happened twice with the Bogle and I actually like the wine. Oh well, who knows. Fortunately there a hmmmmm, how many other great wines? I'm betting on the Iron even for the headache.
