2/2/2024 - marcp Likes this wine: 88 pointsMedium bodied, dry, moderate tannins, balanced with moderate acidity. Red raspberries, red cherries, tobacco, a little iron on the finish. Nice value! |

12/28/2023 - ricard Likes this wine: 96 pointsI have always sung the praises of this tremendous Monastrell and this vintage is a very fine example. Plucked out the last 2005 from the cellar on a whim, and at 18 years it's positively dancing with joy. It's at the apex of its journey, with a few years left in decline but no doubt still charming. Treacle, fudge, figs, prunes, saddle leather, dark jammy fruit. Richly textured, dense - almost oily - and heady. It swirls around the glass like a whirling dervish, dancing seductively. No tannic aggression at all - they've softened but the wine isn't soupy. It's retained its excellent structure and tension. A little more nerve would help, but the lack of it is more than compensated by the superbly fragrant nose, which just gives and gives. Wonderful. Almost as good as Las Gravas, and for sure one of the most exciting and rewarding Monastrell/Mourvèdre wines on planet Earth - and I'm including Bandol in that. |

3/25/2023 - ricard Likes this wine: 94 pointsSuch a stunning wine. Has been my go-to Jumilla since forever. A pleasure to have an '03 at twenty years old. I am frequently surprised at how that famously hot vintage has produced so many wines that over time have proven to be nuanced, deep and multi-faceted. This showed lots of tertiary complexity on the nose and palate, but none on the visuals. It was inky-blue-black throughout - remarkable. Lots of crushed blackberries, saddle leather, liquorice, carob, and a sexy sweetness, like fudge. Real texture here, tannins silky, but the wine has weight and chewiness. Long, opulent, generous. Seriously, a very enjoyable wine and it's SO cheap. Crazy. |

Color rojo rubí, brillo medio, capa media/alta, ribete anaranjado. |

9/14/2022 - ricard Likes this wine: 93 pointsSuch a pleasure to have this old friend again. It was a spontaneous opening - I had no plans to have this until I looked at it, and seconds later I had opened it. It's one of the last of the '05s in my cellar. It has barely changed since the last time I had one, which I believe was 2013. So its longevity is quite remarkable. It's nowhere near peaking, and in fact, barely evolving! Not sure if that is a good thing... You've got the thickness, the density, the power, the fruit, the intensity. But it's not just a New World-style monolithic fruit bomb. There's an earthiness and a delicacy of fragrance that embraces herbs such as oregano and rosemary, and a spicy pepperiness that counteracts the fruit and sweetness very nicely. Also a distinctive chocolatey/cocoa note. A very good wine, and great value. |

3/24/2020 - Andreas_T Likes this wine: 89 pointsDark colour, doesn’t look very old. Mouvedre is for the colour. It does age quite well. 13 years old it tastes quite ripe. A lot of blackberry and vanilla on the palette. Generally not too mu h complexity but a lot of power and a well rounded experiance. |

On the palate dark and red berries, toasted oak, coffee, brown spiced biscuit, caramel, and good acidity and round tannin. Still quite youthful. Very tasty wine. |

1/27/2018 - Abharwine Likes this wine: 86 pointsslated this back in October and only revisiting now. Had to be something wrong with that bottle because this is more like I was expecting. PnP and powerful flavours straight away, if a bit rough and rustic. Left it for an hour and most of the edges are disappearing rapidly......think I'll finish both wine and review tomorrow. |

1/25/2017 - Harley1199 Does not like this wine: NREnofusión 2017; 1/23/2017-1/25/2017 (IFEMA - Madrid): Tire tanned under the sun on the nose and in the mouth is salty! All very strange. Either it's a failed bottle or it was made on the beach where Marlon Brando spent the summer. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (2) |
