Great great pinot!

This was pure cherry juice. The acidity was great and showed perfect potential and structure. This wine should be really good in 5 years time.

WOW. That is almost the only thing I can say.

This wine has tremendous potential and in twenty or thirty years time, this will sing like angles from above. HOLY SHIT!

Opened 04.00, consumed at 24.50, so twenty hours after triple decant this monster of a wine did not leave much. A HOLY BLOCK of cassis was it. You could only hint slight notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and some meat. But OH the potential. This a wine with status of "BUY ON SIGHT".

Keep for the next 20-30 years and this baby will reward you ever so kindly.

Or keep buying en primeur for the pleasure of your children :-)

Still quite youthful. Drinking nicely in a classic claret sort of way. A very nice and quite classy wine, but nothing spectacular. Served with fresh black truffles on toast but not quite mature enough for the combination to work optimally, though there was a touch of truffle in the flavour profile.

This was just a huge joy. Very feminine and light compared to the big brawny Pauillacs enjoyed earlier that night. Notes of black fruit, cassis, blueberry, hints of lavender, eucalyptus, pencil shaving, dark chocolate and flint. Velvety, silky, airy and polished, perfect amount of acidity and mineral, very fine tannin.

Still a decade worthy before starting to reach window (and should stay for another 3-4 decade in that window).

2014 Carlisle Two Acres

Straight up bliss in a bottle.

This is actually one of my favorite Carlisle. Never have I experienced such intensity and purity from this producer (mind that I have tasted various vintages of Petit Sirah and Papas block from Mike).

This, I would never have guessed Russian river on a blinder.. I had Northern Rhone all the way - this is major. WOW.

Intense rich fruit and body with some great earthy, mineral and dry notes. Great raspberry and blackberries. Incredible.

Should be at maturity in five years time.

Spectacular Papa’s syrah showing a more savoury, meaty side of this vineyards characteristics than the 2014. I almost think it’s even better for it despite what the vintage charts might say. Less exuberantly fruity but more ‘dark’, smoky, savoury all the while it is just a plain joy to drink with great richness, body and surplus. Soft tannins, full body, long finish, with notes from both the Côte-Rôtie and the New World combining for a remakable wine full of character while being very easy to appreciate. A great Papa’s!

Wow!

This is really at a great state now. Bought in OWC (closed) at auction. All bottles A-fill. Perfect storage since en primeur!

This had perfect grilled green pepper, meat, white pepper, cassis. But the finish was on the short term. But man.. Am I happy, that I bought that lot. This wine cost next to nothing and is so so great. Definitely worth a buy and seek-out if the storage is correct. Holy bejesus this is great for the price!

FUCK ME, this is evil!

Pure maniac - The notes were off the charts. First off - damp asparges which later turned into heavy grilled green pepper and fantastic BBQ lamp chops. WOW! The black pepper was so heavy, I just fell in love with this wine. Cedar, humidor and cigar tobacco blew up in our faces. Gosh darn it, this is a monster. At least 3 decades left in the tank for sure!

I enjoyed the leftovers the next day for lunch. Just as powerfull. Insane!

1934 Château Pavie Decesse

St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend more

8/5/2017 - Fred_Bo Likes this wine: 96 points

This was a pop and pour.. The cork came out in one piece looking really good and had thankfully done its job!

The initial notes are white pepper, meat, damp forest floor. This quickly developed to grilled green bell pepper with BBQ sauce and marinated smoked meat with less wet leaves and more like dry provence-summer breeze with a hint of lavender. This was truly amazing. Bottle was of greatest provenance!

It staid static over 1.5 hours and then we'd finished the bottle. No decline. Beautiful!

Deep in color with violets and licorice that take no effort to find, this wine is luxurious and concentrated and feels like ripe black fruits polished with velvet. There is a sweetness combined with a quintessence of fruit that will send your mind to Bordeaux no matter where you take your first sip. The wine was produced from blending 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot, reaching 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.6 and is aged in 60% new, French oak barrels for 18 months before bottling. The harvest took place from September 20 to October 4 for the Merlot and from October 10 to October 15 for the Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine represents only 50% of the harvest.

Which one do you think would turn out to be the better wine in the future?

And between Leoville Barton/Poyferre - which would you recommend? Poyferre is superhigh on Cab this year. But I love the medicin/green notes in Barton.

Haut Brion & La Mission Haut Brion: I had high hopes for the 64 Haut Brion and although it showed well, it wasn't spectacular. The 64 La Mission gave a much stronger showing on the night and ultimately, if all the 64 HBs are like this, they are probably best served on their own. The wine has the classic Haut Brion black cherry though the fruit is now getting a tad attenuated. There is a marked toffee note and touches of loam and smoke. This was beautifully balanced on the palate (when is Haut-Brion not?) and finished well, but it's time to drink these.

Showing a good depth of color, the tobacco, cassis, boysenberry and spice-filled aromatics are hard to avoid. Full-bodied and concentrated, there is a lot of power and tannin to contend with this year. It's going to take time for this wine to become civilized. The finish packs a large bushel of ripe, sweet fruit and flavor along with tannins in every mouthful. Representing 36% of the production, the blend consists of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. This wine reached 13.4% alcohol with a pH of 3.6 and the harvest took place between September 15 and October 8. Montrose which is on top of its game these days can fool you. It can be a bit hard to get a read on some vintages in their youth, making it is quite possible this wine could end up much better when it is in bottle. It would not be the first time that happened. I can tell you that from personal experience. 94 - 96 Pts

Wow I could keep drinking this for days!

So much value, tastes like big big Cote de nuits!
You get earthy vibes with cherry, berries and a very delicious acidity but a bit more "meatiness" in the texture.

21-29 euros in France is absurd, when you pay 150-200 euros in Denmark (when they are not sold out).

  • Comment posted by Fred_Bo:

2/8/2017 12:08:00 AM - You cannot buy it in retail in DK, as we receive almost nothing. So only the top michelin restaurants are able to buy it and therefor fire up the prices as well. So unfortunate!

Great, great wine - especially after one hour of breathing, that really rounds it out! Combining the best of unctuous German Spätburgunder character with classic Burgundy Pinot Noir elegance. Almost creamy mouthfeel, bright acidity and lift, cherry and rose petal notes with additional slight herbaciousness and herbal notes with well integrated woodsmoke.
