Despite the fact we had several great reds on the table the Pedro Ximenez won unanimously as the best wine of the night. It was a great surprise. In fact, it is the best dessert wine I have ever had. Is sweet, but no excessively so, it makes you want to keep drinking it. It does have a fruit flavor, it reminded me of Fig, Guava and also a hint of honey. Medium body with smooth tannins, acidity still present but not aggressive, light finish, great Aroma. It represents outstanding value when compared to some other Rioja wines. |

Very powerful tannins that still leave a bit of a tart feel on the long finish. Notes of wood, coffee and even some anise. It went very well with pasta with lamb ragu. Due to the intensity of the Tannins I would think the wine should mature for a few more years or at least be decanted for a couple of hours before being drunk. |

Tannins are still very noticeable and the acidity is equally strong. Lots of oak, some floral notes, some red fruit. Should take a few more years to settle down. |

The wine was ultra smooth with super soft tannins and barely perceptible acidity. I didn't expect this from a wine that's only 8 years old. It has a medium-strong body, soft aftertaste. Lot's of oak and black fruit. Consistency was velvety. I had it with a "Chuleton" (a very large piece of grilled steak with nothing but salt) and it was a marvelous match. The reputation of Vega-Sicilia is absolutely deserved. Go drink yours, no need o wait any longer. |

The acidity is not too elevated and it feels good on the palate afterward. I had this with garlic shrimp and guacamole and the pairing worked very well. Surprisingly good for the price. |
