Bob's cellar. Garnet red, no bricking. Nose is red fruit crunch and barnyard funk (this disappears), little bit of black fruit comes through. Crisp tannins and puckering acidity, very redcurrant bite, pomegranate sharpness. Air eases this and blunts the the edges so the shape emerges. And it's good, peppery background - white - with angular edges still. A little fatiguing. Air could take the edges off more - remains bright and young.

Medium ruby.
Very aromatic and intense flowery nose, with coffee beans, black pepper, blackberries, dried meat aromas.
Medium body, soft and silky tannins, bit of oak and coffee beans flavours coat intense and savoury blackberry and meaty flavours. could do with bit more acidity, but it’s already quite nice as it is.
Very very long enjoyable finish.
Excellent wine reminiscent of an excellent aged cote rotie.

Dusty cherry, plum, Italian herbs, fennel, deli meats in the background, pencil shavings. Light and bright on the palate. Has a delicacy about it, though is surprisingly starting to thin out compared to previous bottles. Retains good length in a light frame.

Screwcap, 14% alc.
Medium red. Starting to fade to orange at the rim like a Barolo.

Shy nose of deli meat, cherry, slight citrus peel, graphite, damp earth, delicate baking spices and mint.

Gentle palate; not the brute it once was. Red cherry dominant flavour, heading in the direction of a Brunello. Chalky tannins. Medium bodied at best but a long finish.

Feels like it has more to give with further ageing. Very different to the 2008. Builds depth and richness on day 2. Lovely. Drink over the next 6–7 years.

Very peppery, excellent cool climte shiraz, and the viognier gives a noticeable lift to the wine. Drinking very well now but has life left in it.

Geez I like this. Green apple skin, lime, brûléed grapefruit, classic cool climate minerality. Off dry style allows a wonderful interplay between acid & residual sugar.

This bottle showed a lot of development - the joyous floral notes of the Viognier are gone, leaving some black cherry, prune, raspberry jam, leather, tobacco and sage. It has an elegance but this bottle was close to past it.

A bit on the fence with this one. I wanted to like it more given I loved it on release but on this showing it was firmly in the “nice red wine” camp for me. Clearly well made and no obvious faults. White pepper, cherries and all the hallmarks of Clonakilla SV but no real zing. Just felt a bit muted and uninspiring, despite the obvious quality. Drunk over the course of an afternoon on the back of a lazy lunch (gotta love Easter Monday) so it had plenty of opportunity to evolve in the glass. Might need to re-evaluate my drinking window on these ones- I absolutely love them close to release but my experience with extended cellaring time has been hit-and-miss.

Ruby red with a hint of brick on the rim, pale, unfiltered. Initially a little reticent, blossoming to a pronounced nose of red currant, pomegranate, black cherry and blackberry fruit, very sweet smelling, almost confected. White pepper, fennel seed, black filter coffee. Very complex. Medium acid, tannins like silk; rhubarb and red currant with some darker brambles on the palate, but more savoury than the nose. Very elegant, well balanced, extremely delicious.

Reaching the end of its life but definitely still very enjoyable. Decanted 2 hours ahead of first drink. Consumed over 2 nights. Warm berries and light spice.

In celebration of Sweden’s NATO ascension 🇸🇪

👃 Plum liqueur, white pepper, prosciutto crudo and a hint of volatile acidity

👅 Medium-bodied (ABV 14%) with silky tannins, fresh acidity (medium) and a palate of blueberry sorbet. Long sorbet like finish.

👀 Purple

📝 High intensity on the nose and on the palate. This wine is in a very good place right now. For you Swedes - I found this wine & vintage in Systembolagets beställningssortiment för 279 kr ($27). I will definitely order a few more bottles.

Roast beef pan juices, blackberry, pepper, spice, still the violets of youth are there and then not. Steely threads of tannins, outstanding balance and length. Superb. I’ve sometimes wondered if it’s better to drink these Clonakilla SVs young as they are so good at that stage, but this bottle is an argument for being patient.

It wasn’t their best season. I probably made the mistake of keeping it too long. It was medium body with a moderately long palate. Not what I come to expect from a Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier. Enjoyable just the same
