Garnacha night out (Athanasiadis house): Youthful, cherry notes, earthy, spicy, nice oak frame, raspberry notes, carnation floral notes, some smoky savoury notes.
Palate shows freshness, youthful again, red fruit, mineral, airy, ethereal for a wine from this region, med body, a touch of warmth (15%), a few stalky bitter notes, med finish

Big fan of Comando G so I decided to try this wine by Landi.
Young quite tannic, super grippy but with great intensity of fruit and a lot of length.
Put it in carafe and that made it open up a bit.
Still too young, will revisit in a year.

Mature hue in the glass, showing its age. Nutty aromas in the nose, slightly oxidative but so elegant. Medium acidity, lemons, oranges, hints of smoke, very complex and somewhat dense, with almond notes here and there and a long, lingering ending. Excellent.

As expected, after few years in a bottle and few hours of air it gains some darkness and weight. Fruits are darker without any loss of finesse and freshness. But I get lots of spicy, savory, earthy side as well - tea (black, wulong), some herbs and pepper, smoky, meaty tones. Palate is fresh, with high acidity and firm tannins. Finish is long, spicy and tannic. I assume it can age for a long time, due to it's structure and freshness. But I like it even now, a lot.

Drinking beautifully at 9 years of age. Bright medium ruby (almost pale i.e. quite translucent), beautifully expressive (almost pronounced) nose and very elegant, mature and medium intensity palate offering some lingering and seemingly candied red fruit and integrated secondary flavors that are kept in check by a refreshing acidity and - despite the wine's age - a frame of fine but unobtrusive tannins. I'm confident the structure of the wine allows it to continue to age and develop (more) tertiary flavors for several more years. A true delight to drink now along a truffle, potato and smoked spinach dish as well as a spring chicken filet served with bordelaise and a stew of the chicken legs with salsify and tarragon.

As pleasing and classy as it was though, I'm not sure I would be ready to purchase the new vintages of this wine at the current retail prices they seem to fetch. Was fortunate to drink this 2015 vintage in a restaurant at a price well below that level (as it was bought at a time the prices were still reasonable)...

(at Ramon Freixa - Madrid) Pale, Leroy-like color. Violets and strawberries are vying for prominence on the nose. Minerals and slate back things up. Asian spice. Light to medium body. A Spanish wine for burghounds. Very good if not exceptional depth. Some tannin still to resolve. Excellent. (93)

One of the best of the night (9 Grenache). Low opacity, ruby with a bit of garnet towards the edges. Dust/straw, strawberry above savory herbs candied spices and orange peel. On the palate, it was lifted, dry and silky and round with spiced flavors of bright cherry and strawberry. Complex and well balanced. Delicious!

Lovely Spanish wine that's got some oomph, but is not overpowering. We paired with a cheese and meat board and it was a bit heavy for that but not by much.

Dark red cherries, plums and a medium-full mouthfeel. Enjoyed this quite a bit.

Now made under the Comando G label (from 2020 vintage).
This is throwing off gorgeous aromatics. Fragrant. Pretty.
Elegant and light on the palate. Underlying hint of mineral on the finish. Lovely red savoury fruits
Light of its feet and very ethereal.
Really classy.
Makes a mockery of the 14.5% alcohol.
Loved this

Perfect blood. Nose is deep and mineral, lots of blood and viscera; turned soil; above that is kirsch and creosote, and higher yet is a wispy, constantly vanishing but haunting rose floral note. Gorgeous, but there is certainly a touch of heat; oy, Garnacha. Round and moderately dense on the palate; celery and celery seed, cherry meat and pit. Quite good balance on the finish with a defining edge of bitterness; less heat than on the nose, but plenty of ripe, ripe liqueur character and overall a very richly textured wine. Delicious wine, but it demands duck or fatty lamb; it's not a daily house wine. (Listed as 14.5% abv, but I'd guess it's more like 15%.)

Pale ruby
Medium plus nose.
Garrigue, scorched earth, strawberries, raspberries, funk, hay, smoke, wet rock,campari/amaro.
Medium acid, medium tannins, really super dry palate, some bitterness.
Alcohol definitely adds some intense heat here. But the main thing here is texture. Like a lot of high elevation quality Garnachas, this wine nails that saline solution mouthfeel. Not salty, but the weightiness and graininess possibly broght on by the fine tannins.

Opened at Otto e Mezzo in HK. Popped, decanted, but enjoyed immediately.

This was a very pleasant surprise - no experience at all with this wine or frankly anything from this region, but this was extremely elegant and enjoyable. Slight funk on the nose and very natural, but not overly pungent and with freshness and red fruit mixed with herbal notes, it made the bouquet very enjoyable. On the palate this was light, but with a hint of alcohol-heat as well as spiciness befitting of Garnacha. Not overly complex but very enjoyable and completely fooled the friends who were trying this blind.

I'd be very happy to try again, and there may be slight upside as everything gets better integrated. Drinking well now but would revisit in 3+ years to see where this is at, and will bear this producer in mind, as there is clearly skilful winemaking here.
