2019 Felton Road Pinot Noir Bannockburnmore |
5/19/2024 - honest bob wrote: 90 pointsFrom 75cl screwcap, decanted 1 hour. Lighter-bodied and thinner in texture than I hoped (based on my CT TN from 22.12.2023), this is nonetheless an outstanding PN on the level of a lieu-dit bottling from a fine CdNuits producer. The scent, seriously fresh and lifted, is just terrific at this stage of maturity; the palate is basically as recorded here on 25.06.2023, just seeming a bit more attenuated—or perhaps tired? I seem to prefer my NZ PNs quite a bit younger than most Burgundy, good Cali PN or German Spätburgunder, indeed about 3–4 years after the vintage often seems to work for me. 90P |

5/19/2024 - Marc wrote: 92 pointsA rare chance to try a benchmark wine before release, and unsurprisingly, the 2023 Felton Road Pinot is a winner! Obviously bright and youthful, but the structure of the wine is all class, emphasising fruit tannins, with a classic “house style” balance between generous fruit and expertly-judged oak. The 2023 strikes me as more tannic than the 2022 vintage, with a savoury note that suggests this will age beautifully. Intense and thick, but also with the classic FR lightness. Red cherry, subtle oak, earth and fruit. A very fine wine. Clearly wants some age, as it is very tannic, and will be fascinating to follow! 92++ |

5/11/2024 - drwine2001 wrote: NRBlind Pinot Noir Tasting and Lunch (San Francisco): Light ruby. Mellow, complex nose. Medium- weight. Supple, fluid, wonderful fruit/soil balance, bright orange peel acidity, and moderate remaining tannins. Also delicious-I love the verve and harmony. Should continue at this outstanding level for another decade. |

5/11/2024 - drwine2001 wrote: NRBlind Pinot Noir Tasting and Lunch (San Francisco): Ruby. Harsher stem dominant aromas with rose florality and berry as well. Medium body. Stems and tannins dominate, but there is a lot of pretty, dark cherry trying to edge its way in. Moderately tannic, chocolatey finish. Sharper with less pleasing harmony and balance than the younger Cornish Point, and I wonder if it will catch up with more aging. |

Lovely density of ripe berry, citrus, and soil with excellent acidity and fine tannins. Supple, balanced, excellent penetration, and yet still holding something in reserve. I liked this. |

5/10/2024 - JensAgo Likes this wine: 91 pointsFirst go w the Felton Road B2 in this vintage (v20, 14% ABV) - appears slightly close-woven at first pour, clearly citric & quite rich in alcohol, opening up throughout bottle to citrus heaven w a tropical touch & go attitude. Straw-yellow, crystal-clear in appearance. Nose w deep scents of nectarine, lemon & grapefruit, ripe lime emerging w further air, marzipan & butter w a touch of wood. Mineral-driven, taut, m+-palate, peach & apricot adding to the flavour profile, barrel spice & lime-drenched, oily acidity. Hold for now or decant. |

5/4/2024 - B Khor wrote: NRSecond wine from Felton - really enjoyed bannockburn prev - the Calvert is much heavier in comparison - medium to full body, strong fruits, spice and herbs/floral. I can taste strawberry and theres a very distinct taste that I have never tasted in other wines before, maybe pomegranate? Tannins is present but not overpowering. Overall a good wine that will likely taste much better in a couple more years (with resolved tannins). |

5/5/2024 - nickuk Likes this wine: 92 pointsDrinking very well. Pop n pour following a Guigal CdR and with food. Nice dark fruit, strength in the middle and a lingering aftertaste. Two French friends were very impressed and we had a long burgundy based conversation. There is enough tannnic feel that it could go another few years we agreed, especially as that dark fruit never wavered. Delicious with food |

4/28/2024 - graemeg wrote: NR{screwcap, 14%} Partly aged, spectacular nose of pastrami and other deli meat. An undercurrent of composting red fruit. Really great stuff. Palate is very fine too, medium/full in weight, still with medium powdery tannin, medium acid, medium/long finish. Just a great pinot by any standard. No rush to drink either, it seems. A stunning purple black colour in the glass. A very mouth filling wine, chocolate and earthy leather flavour's. The best Felton Road Bannockburn I have tasted. If you have a few left in the cellar, try n leave them another 4 or 5 years. You will not regret doing so. But you can enjoy this beauty like we did tonight. |
