First tried white port in Duoro Valley Portugal while staying at Six Sense hotel. 20 year White port is very rare and hard to find due to fact that vast majority of grapes grown in valley are red so the few whites are used for their white wines. I figured I could buy from a selection of white 20 year Ports when left to stay in Porto. Checked every major Porthouse and several wine stores and in whole city could only find the Kopke ( which turned to be almost as good as one had in Duoro). In summary more like nectar than traditional Tawny. More like a white version of a Vintage port but a little lighter and sweeter. much prefer the white |
