A bit disappointing, one-note. Perhaps just an off-day for me.

Drinking nicely these many years later.
A few bottles remain ready to drink.
Roasted meat and chocolate on the nose and palate.
Spicey w out being tight and the fruit has muddied.
Open and drink.

Damn, this is good. Decanted for almost 4 hours. Big, dark, rich, savory, with tons of blackberry, dark chocolate, espresso, and oak. Raising it a point to 92.

Jim didn't like this, but I thought it was good. Nice cassis, dark in color and well balanced - not tannic enough for Jim.

l think this Cab will age nicely, this red is constructed to age well. A broodingly dark purple color and extraction that shows dry, tart and tannic after 6 years in the bottle. I would agree with Isjoern’s assessment of this vintage: ‘a really big and structured wine, still has lots of austere tannins it needs to integrate’. Dark tart berry fruits, blackberry, blueberry, dark tart/ sour cherry and cranberries. On the palate it’s quite dry and needs extended cellaring. Definitely not your pop and pour Cab. l would score this 2018 at around 90+/ 91 as it did gain slight traction with air. Hopefully a slow ox will have a positive effect on the remaining 2/3’s of this bottle, we’ll see tonight. It will be interesting to see how this wine shows in another four or five years. Not my favorite style at this stage, but I expect a better future for this vintage.

2015 Provenance Vineyards Malbec

Ripe blackberries, ripe dark plums, ripe black cherries, wet stone, tobacco, cocoa powder and the slightest hint of VA (which never really blows off, even after it was open for 7 hours) on the nose. The aromas are about 50/50 split between primary and secondary. It smells like it's going to be smooth and rounded, with a medium + intensity of aromas. On the palate, it is indeed rounded; and a lot fruitier than the nose. I get mostly the ripe dark plums and ripe black cherries, some dried leaves and a nice burst of orange peel on the finish. Medium + intensity of flavors too.

Medium + body with nice medium + acid and grippy medium tannin. It's been ages since I've had a Malbec from Napa; but to me, this has all the hallmarks of that variety. Drink now, not going to get any better.

Purple or very close. Lots of legs. No sediment. Full body, dark fruit, oak, blackberry, blueberry 🫐, dark cherry 🍒. Dry. Soft. Tannins. Aerated and decanted. This wine 🍷 is still young, at the beginning of the drinking window. I will buy more for the cellar.

Nice wine dark, and deep in color. Nice big aroma. Taste was big, and deep, with lots of black fruit & oak. Even though I decanted it for 3 hours before, it’s still seem to be a little discombobulated, and not completely imbalance. Still very good, and I’m chalking it up to its relatively young age. I’ve got another 2019 (as well as a 2016 and two 2018s). I’ll do my best to leave it alone for another 3+ years.

Concentrated black fruit and firm tannins. Some earthy notes, plum compote, ample dark chocolate, tobacco, oak. Moderate finish with both intense fruit and strong tannins. This is beginning to blossom, with plenty of development to come.

After 1 hour in decanter:

Saturated, dark purple/black. The nose is showing green notes of bell pepper, green olive, tomato vine and coffee bean. Med-full bodied, this is showing as fairly tannic with ripe blackberry and black cherries, wood ash/graphite as well as bay leaf and oak. Still a baby, this gets rounder and fuller as it crosses the palate. The tannins are a bit present, but of good quality and should resolve in just a few years. Drink 2027-2031+ 92

After 3 hours:
More and more coffee dominates this wine. I don't plan to purchase more. 92

For the money this is a really good CA Cab. It's a bit overripe and over alcoholic for me. The body is firm and ample, and the flavors are very varietal. I'm substracting points for the bitterness in the finish, but overall this is a good wine.

Rich aromas of creme de cassis, ripe black currants, blackberries, wild flowers and oaky spice. Med-full bodied, this is loaded with ripe blackberries and currants, a supple palate with tannin building on the finish. Really quite rich, this can easily be drunk now, but may develop more complexity with age. Not a long-term cellar candidate and nothing special for me. 92
