The fruit included plum and ripe raspberry, but also showed brighter red features. Most distinctive, however, was a broad meaty layer. A spicy kicker as the icing on the cake. Impressively fresh and juicy palate, round with a perfect structure. A beautifully aged Echezeaux! |

So much freshness and structure here combined with a kaledoscope of tertiary Burg aromas around sour cherry, autumn leaves, cured meat, dried flowers. Wonderful 96+ |

This is medium full bodied on the palate with excellent concentration and very good class. The medium plus length finish features integrated tannins and minerals. |

12/24/2023 - ankitmehra Likes this wine: 96 pointsThis 1989 Échezeaux from Domaine Jacques Cacheux is one of the last vintages where the domaine’s founder was hands on prior to his retirement and the opportunity to open up this special bottle on Christmas Eve was a delight. Immediately greeted by an aromatic nose of bright raspberries, florality and menthol, this wine smelt younger than its age, making me excited for what was to come. The palate showed off a level of power that Échezeaux always delivers on, fusing an upfront dominated by cranberries and raspberries with a tertiary mid-palate consisting of spices, earthiness and menthol. The finish continued in that direction as licorice, balsamic and herbs came in over a short finish, aiding the complexity of the wine. As a whole, a great wine for a great occasion. |

12/18/2023 - pcwoz Likes this wine: 92 pointsRuby, tending towards garnet. Very good clarity / transparency. Raspberries. Cinnamon. Nutmeg. Fresh. Fine, yet nicely framed tannins. Lovely ripe fruit power. Very long. Smoke (especially in back palate). Very faint sous bois, but still quite a lot of fruit power in front. |

11/8/2023 - Claret & CdP Gang Likes this wine: 92 pointsStill quite dark, ripe dark cherries, bit savoury & sandalwood, good structure, balance & fruits in the mouth, still fresh & lively, opened for 1 hour before drinking, picked up weight with air, agree with notes in Ct that it’s not very VR, more Gevrey, gosh young like a 5-10 yo Burg, not elegant |

8/27/2023 - Claret & CdP Gang Likes this wine: 96 pointsDouble decanted for 30 min, medium red with bricking, intoxicating & perfumed nose of red fruits & sandalwood, I could smell this the whole night, medium bodied, great ripe fruits & acidity still present, excellent length, the reason why I adore aged Burgundies, kept getting better, nose became more complex, put on weight, mouth coating, a wine of great beauty! |

4/27/2023 - pavel_p Likes this wine: 92 pointsBurgundy at least 20 years old: My own bottle. Slow ox'ed for 3h but this was very tight initially. After another perhaps 2h in the half full bottle this opened up but remained a fairly tightly coiled wine of dark berries. A nice wine even if pretty much at the opposite end of how most VR show, hence all double blind guesses were far off here. |

Completely different from the style of the domaine today, this was dense and heavily tannic with what I suspect to be both late picking and heavy extraction. Quite fine-boned so I thought masculine Vosne. Well-made in an old-school style, in the drinking window. |
