2021 White Rose Estate Pinot Noir Explorer's Club Cooperage Series Slavonian OakWillamette Valley more |
4/15/2024 - Dulcie and Aylwin wrote: NRI am not going to store these 2021 Cooperage series wines for very long. I had quite a favorable view of the first Slavonian, and the second one maybe has improved a little. It is quite drinkable with good tart red cherry and some moderate tannins. Still, when I am looking at the price tag I would say that is a minimum expectation, and one would hope for more. |

4/18/2024 - Sdurani01 Does not like this wine: NRI think I had the wine outside the drinking window (Apr 2024). There was a great nose, but when drinking, the palate was just non-existent. The finish left a sharpness on the tongue that made it unpalatable. Probably would have been good a year or two ago. |

3/1/2024 - Dulcie and Aylwin wrote: NRHow often does one visit White Rose to find the place blanketed in snow and mist? The "White" here being all too literal. Anyway, brief visit and no notes taken and this is the only wine that I can recall by both name and vintage. Slightly perfumed nose, dark ruby (so many of their wines have very similar colors), dark cherry, modest tannins, decent length. It's good but it ought to be. |

2/6/2024 - chaoswines Likes this wine: 92 pointsDefinitely mellowed. It's still pretty, lots of black cherry. No sour notes to speak of. The bold backbone I recall has softened significantly. I don't know if it would benefit from any more aging. I feel it's past peak drinking but still excellent. |

2/3/2024 - buffyst Likes this wine: 92 points13.3% abv. Deep purple-red. Medium+ body. Medium- acids. As fresh as when released. Superlative fruit, balance and structure. Ideal with food, and opened like a flower over the courses of dinner. On top of the world drinking (a reminder of the Dundee tasting room). Will extend our window by several years. |

1/22/2024 - Dulcie and Aylwin wrote: NROh wow, this is just lovely right now. In comparative short order I have had White Rose from '11, '13, and now '16. Different vineyards and so on but I find the youngest is showing the best - and that is perhaps why. Pale ruby with a very distinctive "white" rim. Somewhat restrained on the nose but a perfumed, slightly funky aroma that is representative of the estate. Very pure sweet, tart cherry, smooth and lush, moderate acidity, resolved tannins, long finish. |

Drank in very close proximity to a 2013 (both odd-numbered vintages are very good) and, while a different vineyard does not allow for close comparison, I found this one to be a more substantial wine: lovely perfumed aroma, clear ruby, layers of dark cherry, mellow and rounded: lots of years yet here. |

1/11/2024 - vinus_operandi wrote: 90 pointsit's been a few years since my last bottle and this bottle seems to have gone over the top of the curve and is on its way down. notes of strawberry, pomegranate, and cherry, with earthy undertones. this is a light delicate wine that now seems a bit washed out to me (if barely so). there's good acidity but not enough tannins and fruit to give this wine real aging potential. the 9 to 12 day maceration/fermentation and gentle treatment of the cap may be a bit too short/gentle for this vintage or it just may be the house style here. in any event, don't hold these bottles for much longer. i love these wines when they are young. they are not over oaked and are simply lovely. not all wines are made to age well. 4 to 6 years seems to be the sweet spot on these white rose pinots. nothing wrong with that. |

12/3/2023 - Dulcie and Aylwin wrote: NRSo rare that we have a Sunday roast and, believe me, this roast was rare. So a good opportunity to pair with a good pinot noir that I think is the perfect match for beef. I had last drunk this six years ago and I would say my tasting note is very similar to then. I have to take slight issue with another taster's note back in 2018 saying 2 - 3 years left at that level. Well the wine is in excellent shape right now and I can foresee years of life - although not necessarily improvement. So don't panic. Powerful exotic aroma and bunches of spicy dark cherry in layers, extended finish. I would say that it does fall off rather within a day of opening, so best to consume same day. |

11/23/2023 - mcromain1021 Likes this wine: 92 pointsThanksgiving wine. Was wonderful with the traditional Thanksgiving dinner. From magnum. Popped and let breathe for 2 hours before dinner. Snuck a snip at opening. Cherry, candy apple and earth tones as well. Tannins well integrated and smooth at this point. Was consistent throughout the evening. This is ready now. |
