11/12/2006 - AllRed wrote: 89 pointsBob opened this at his CDP. Deep color, almost purple, with mint, plum and dark fruit notes along with some oak. Tannins are on the sweet side, with dark fruit flavors persisting on the finish, where the oak becomes a bit too noticeable. Give it another year or two for the oak to integrate a bit more. |

9/30/2006 - SacredCow wrote: 89 pointsOn the nose, cherry, coffee and spice. On the palate, medium-bodied, with cherries, mocha, licorice, and a dash of chocolate, with a short to medium-length finish where the oak and tannins are a bit prominent, though round. Very nice inexpensive Bdx, give it some more time. |

6/5/2006 - Dixie_F wrote: 85 pointsPerhaps this rating should be higher. It's hard to know how it would taste in 5 more years. Deep red. Nice nose with pencil lead and cassis. Some tobacco. Good fruit, lots of acid and lots of tanins. Not very elegant or balanced. For it's price it could be a nice wine in a few years. |

I'm going to really hold on to the other two of four to see if the oak and tannins resolve and can show a well aged Bord for great QPR. This wine brought a smile to my face and I think it has more potential. |

11/5/2005 - Tad GW wrote: 90 pointsThis wine was a jaw dropping surprise! I had this with dinner at a friend's house and the aromatics of this wine were stunning for a wine at this price range! The ruby color with a fushia tinge attracts the eye. The perfume of this wine are complex and varied with time in the glass. Damp earth, smoke, anise and spices were the primary scents that danced to a symphony. On the palate this wine was fruit forward but had sufficient structure to make me believe that this will evolve to an even better wine in 2-5 years. Ripe plums and blackberries were at the fore of this concentrated medium to full bodied wine. This is a wine to buy by the case, and I'm not talking about just one! My friend said he had this recommended by a representative of Chateau Palmer who said this wine is a rising star, and I can see (smell and taste) why. |

8/13/2005 - Sweet Nancy wrote: NRDecided to commit infanticide on this first of four bottles. The wine looked dark and clear as it was poured into a decanter for aeration. There was only a hint of sediment in the bottom of the bottle. Good fruit on the nose and palate when first opened. Fast forward an hour or two and the wine is showing dark berry fruit and a promise of earth. The bottle was enjoyed with grilled New Zealand loin lamb chops. During the course of the dinner, out pops a distinct cedar profile on the nose. This wine is a poster child for good QPR Bordeaux at $13 - $14 per... I'll hold on to the other bottles for a few more years. |

7/6/2005 - Eric wrote: 89 pointsWow, this is probably not a good time to be drinking 2000 Bordeaux, and the wine clearly shows that it is tight. At the same time, there is so much there, especially for a $13 wine. Graphite, tobacco, black fruit and hints of cedar on the nose. On the palate this shows a pretty distinct note of leather/barnyard, but it suits the wine well. Tight notes of mineral and red fruit show that this still needs to unfold, but I suspect the bottle will do better with more air. Still, this is an absolutely lovely wine and a remarkable value. |

6/29/2005 - DFC wrote: 87 pointsDecanted for 20 minutes. Color was dark ruby/purple. Body was medium-light to begin with, but it gained weight nicely after 45 minutes. On the nose, black fruits and some licorice. On the palate, black fruits including blackberries. The finish was thin early on, but as the wine filled out over time, the finish improved accordingly. This wine has soft, subdued tannins, and it certainly has pleasing fruit. Unfortunately, I wish it had more structure to help compensate for the lack of complexity. This is a decent, but not great, QPR at around $15. In this price range, I definitely prefer the Cap de Faugeres. Oh yeah, one more thing...it's a real teeth-stainer! |

6/16/2005 - Wusman wrote: 90 pointsEvery time I drink this wine, I am thankful to have purchased a case. The third bottle I have had over the last 2 years. Decanted about 30min prior to drinking. Still purple on the rim with no signs of aging. Beautifully open nose of sweet cassis, earth, some licorice, and pencil shavings. The wine is smooth on the palate, noticible acidity, dark fruits, cedar and earth. Finish is somewhat short, but pleasant. Mild-moderate tannins without any hint of bitterness. I just love QPR bordeaux! |
