A bit reductive, but give it some air to blow off. Crushed berries, a bit of spritz, lively acid, violets, and zesty minerals. Excellent food wine, would pair nicely with duck or really any sort of meat.

Much more structured and layered than the Marcette. Higher acid and everything turned up a notch. More slate and salinity.

Nice weight, medium bodied. Lemon, ocean breeze, a bit of funk, and some stone fruit. Rounds out with air and quite nice for the price. Jura character comes through. Nice start!

Pretty delicious, light-body, round style — extra brut, but in no way punishing. Happy to drink and not overjoyed .

Pnp blind. Everyone thought this was a Barolo. This continues to be silky silky smooth and my favorite Brunello. Very similar to my previous experiences with this wine. A little crunchier red berried and grippy acidity. If you like the Burgundian silky texture in Barolo producers, such as Burlotto, you need to try this wine. 96-97

Opened one bottle a few nights ago. Decided to deplete the stock and open the last. Same opinion. The wine drinks nicely, but is not very interesting. Not much on the nose. Flavors of anise and berry, without complexity. Quick finish. As stated before, this wine may just be past its peak, but I still enjoyed drinking it.

Wow! This Cab is full bodied and rich, benefits from decant and drinks smooth with rich fruit on the pallet!
I think could be great for another 5 to 10 years!
Might be a top 10 of all 2018 Napa Cabernet’s!!!
Awesome!

I’ve drunk this vintage many times over the years and it has progressed nicely. The high acidity kept this bright for many years, but it has now mellowed nicely. Much rounder on the palate and the raspberry/strawberry crunch burst of flavour has receded. Classic NZ Pinot stink. New World to be sure, but softer and more mature. Great w plank salmon.

A vibrant nose of smoky mineral, preserved lemon and rockmelon. The palate is intense, textural and dry. It has a waxy feel and plenty of fruit that unlocks with air. The finish has crisp acidity and saline minerality.

Grand vin. 95+ pts

Coravin fun - Ch. de Beaucastel (My place, Burwood): A little note on storage. This wine was very carefully packed to be presented to a negotiant in Bordeaux as part of En Primeur as a thank you for their previous kindness. Unfortunately as I was caught in the Dubai floods instead of the smooth transition from plane to plane and then on to Paris and, via TGV, to Bordeaux over the course of 24 hours it spent an additional 24 hours baking in the hold of an aircraft before being stored in an equally hot tin shed for 5-6 days before embarking to Paris where it had a further rest before returning to Dubai to it's hot tin shed for a couple of days before finally returning to me in Sydney two weeks after I had returned. When I got through it's careful packing I was dismayed to see that the bottle had leaked.

The wine was very gently decanted and served. On the nose it was muted showing quite herbaceous notes, red hued fruits, a little walnut, the palate is off-dry, light weight and pretty a reflection of the nose. Surprisingly simple. Ho hum.

Tasted again 48 hours later...the air helped a touch...the herbaceous notes had settled, other flavours and palate weight was as previous tasting though the wine had gained a smoky note and a little more tertiary (leather, earth, crushed rock, dried fruit) complexity. Nice.

Magnifique. 93 pts

Still drinking well, but I am not as convinced as a I was 3 years ago when I predicted improvement. Certainly getting a little smoother - a little more Merlot-like. But I would also prefer the alcohol to not stick out as much and to sense more development in the bouquet. It seems stuck in 3rd gear. I will save my remaining few and give it another go in 2 years. 5+11+17+8= 91

Dark red color. On nose, orange rind, black cherry and plum - sour cherry with 3+ hours of air only. Medium body, medium+ acidity, medium+ tannins and long finish. Palate consistent with nose ex. orange rind. Not as good as my last bottle although the last glass was the best - decant if drinking now. 92+/-

This wine is definitely on the decline. Fruit is a little flabby at this point and doesn't stand up to the alcohol, so the wine is out of balance. Maybe it will come together with some air, but absolutely no reason to keep holding any bottles you have left.

Still lots of fruits, easy going medium light body, just enough subtle tannins & long finish
First of a case, definitely in the drinking window, don’t think it needs more time, at least with a few hours decant.
Will try pnp for the next

Root Day - Wine to lower end of neck in bottle. Cork sound with wine ingress 3/4 of the way to the top. Kudos to Black Hills for putting a proper length high quality cork in these bottles. Double decanted (into carafe and back into cleaned bottle) off about a tablespoon of wine and sediment. Some fine sediment and a couple of small hard sediment chunks. Wine has a translucent garnet core which extends out to a medium width edge that’s got some orange/browning colouring. Nose is glorious - blackcurrant, blackberry, some oak and vanilla, red flowers, forest floor and just the tiniest hint of leather. On the palate the fruit is there with a medium to heavy mouthfeel that’s ultra smooth and velvety. The flavours are mature with blackcurrent, leather, sou bois, tobacco and spice. The spice, tobacco and some dried black fruit continue into the long finish. Ultra classy and complex wine. This is fully mature and drinking perfectly right now. It could hold another 3 or so years but this to me is as good as it’s going to get.

Drinking on the PNP, noticing slight effervescence. I read where CO2 can be trapped in bottling and the wine begins to re-ferment. It has similar qualities as my last tasting, with a medium complexity and blue fruits. Very enjoyable and a medium long finish. Tasting some smoke along with the acidity you might expect in gigondas. I sense a Mourvèdre blend in the background. 🤔🍷

From a double magnum decanted into 4 750ml bottles. Nose of barnyard, damp earth, roasted coffee grounds, sweet and sour fruit, and floral aged Pinot Noir, same on the palate, very tasty, mouth filling fruit, age really helped here as the bouquet gave way to the palate with a long, long, lovely flavorful finish and aftertaste.

Comprised of 100% Grenache that was fermented in stainless steel and subsequently aged for 12 months in concrete tanks, this light-to-medium garnet wine delivers a clean aromatic profile of red bramble fruits, orange zest, apricots, Provençal herbs, baking spices and black tea. Medium-bodied, fresh and with nicely integrated alcohol (despite being listed as 15.5%), it follows with flavors mirroring the nose, wrapping them with light sweet tannins. Solid on the mid-palate and concluding with good length, this is a thoroughly enjoyable Châteauneuf that represents tremendous value. Splash decantation and an hour of air in carafe is beneficial if you choose to pop the cork at this point. Drink now-2027.

Nose of blueberry, black cherry, plum, and spring flowers, same on the palate, medium body, almost medium/big body, tasty, smooth, easy to sip and savor, fruit forward, needs 2 years to peak, good acid, small amount of soft tannins on the medium/long finish, lovely aftertaste, great Costco price point, back label photo uploaded.

Bottle 1315g. Aromas of moderate intensity: citrus, apricot. Dry, with moderate to elevated prickly acidity, medium-bodied, 13% abv. Flavors of diminished to moderate intensity, lime, citrus pith, saline finish. Another subtle rather than expressive wine from this producer, but with a bit more fresh acidity. One of five lieu-dits tasted.

This wine is drinking remarkably well. Tannins have softened. Wonderful representation of a top flight Sonoma Cab with a very smooth finish. Drank over the course of a few hours. Wish I had more. Could wait a year or two but probably near the prime window.

Very Good.
Medium purple in the glass.
On the nose, medium (+) nose of dark cherry and boysenberry, backed up by baking spice.
On the palate, medium (+) acid, medium fine tannin, high alcohol (14%, but could be higher), medium body, medium (+) flavour intensity, with cherry, boysenberry coulis, cinnamon, even notes of cola. Medium (+) evolving length.
Definitely modern Australian grenache, with a freshness restained despite the alcohol level. Balance is there, as is intensity, which combined with a degree of complexity and a decent length make for a very good wine.
Screwcap.

First time drinking this bottle in any vintage. Drank undecanted over two hours with tacos. Soft, balanced, no detectable tannin, clearly mature but not faded, in a good spot in my opinion. Very herbaceous, plum, slight wood, a bit of stone, peppercorn. $11. Kind of a wow.
