Tiring. Dark in the glass with just a touch of mahogany at the rim. Some dark fruits with some blood orange citrus lift a little underbrush begins to poke through with air. Something iffy here... Argh. Mild TCA (again)

Red and black berries in the bouquet and on the palate. A pleasant dose of oak and good acidity. Very likeable wine in its early maturity stage.

A little bretty, chalky minerality, leather, liquorice, slightly dried out plums, sweet spice. Juicy acidity, savoury, slightly sour and, again, dried out plummy fruit, liquorice, drying talc textured, leather, bit tired. Hmm.

Vibrant fruits, the cut of minerality with its salty edge, flowers and red fruits are discovered on the nose and in the medium-bodied, soft-textured, fresh, red plum and cherry filled palate. Drink from 2023-2030. 87-89

95 Bordeaux @ Hawksmoor (Hawksmoor, Guildhall): Initial sense of richness on the nose, fruitcake and maturity, but then a slight edge, and on the palate horribly corked.

Creamy red berries in the bouquet. Herbs and spices as well. On the palate creamy berries and cherries, green bell pepper, butter, medium plus acidity and round tannin. Still a bit too young. Next bottle not before 2023.

Decent for its price, but found this to be a rather simple wine. A very dark and bigger than expected wine at 14.5%. Red fruit, earth, and some herbaceous notes. Some brine like flavors reminiscent of black olives, and surprising alcohol warmth down the throat.

Fantastic showing. Medium garnet red, secondary and tertiary notes of canned Queen Anne cherries, sasparilla root, old books and Grandpa's man cave. Almost no sediment, improved as we sipped it, no fade.

Bought on sale for 12.65e from the local store of a French national beverage store chain. Regular cuvee has been one of my standards for years--not flashy but reliable and good value. Darkish purple; fragrant with cab franc dominant; good red fruit, some tar. Tasty, not a re-buy. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable- when considering quality, age, and price.

Very dark, reticent in the nose, somewhat herbal and drying in the taste — but I'm sure this is due to its youth. A very well made Canon Fronsac. Needs time to smooth out. Ample glycerin. Alcohol listed as 14.5% — interesting, since as few as 20 years ago 12.5% was considered standard. 85% merlot, 15% cabernet franc. This estate has been in the same family since 1805. Good value.

Black currant, leather, savoury spice, mineral and graphite nose. Solid fruit concentration with low to medium acidity and ripe tannins; roasted nut and brulee finish. Could use a couple of years to open up.

Nose: a full bouquet of dark forest fruits with a delicate hint of moist soil.
Warm taste of blackberry, slightly peppery, in the background the sweetness of raspberries. Balanced tannins.
Excellent quality for the price.

Colour: inky purple red
Nose: cassis, blackberry, damson plum. Peppercorn. Tobacco leaf, nightshade leaf. Earthy, complex. With air: liquorice root and sweet spice.
Palate: cassis, blackberGry, damson plum, cracked black peppercorn. Tobacco leaf, nightshade leaf. Rich and full bodied, but still fresh and lively. Acidity fresh and berry like, medium. Smooth fine grained structured tannins, slightly drying. Savoury and elegant, but very big and brawny. Very fruity, still very young. 15% alcohol

Wide open bordeaux, reaching its twelveth birthday elegantly and surprisingly vivid, showing deep sweet raspberries and plums with an aged oak/leather/rose perfume, as well as a robust side with red meat, coffee and cigar box. Sharp acidity delivers presence and depth on palate, wraping up this nicely developed wine. 91
