In the glass, deep copper/caramel in color. On the nose, a focused blast of mango, mandarin oranges, and passionfruit. On the palate, probably a touch past its prime, with an oxidative note rearing its head here and there around the botrytized tropical fruit and silky, unctuous texture. This opened very well with a deep golden colour with copper edges and a rich nose of blood orange, apricot conserve, pineapples and leatherwood honey. The palate has beautiful richness and purity with a lovely persistent finish of toast, butter and leatherwood honey that covers a spine of citrus acidity that is perhaps a little softer than previous bottles. Harvested at 4 selective pickings between 12 of September and 30 of October. Aged for 18 months in oak barrels (50 % new). Total Acidity, 4,2 g/l. Residual Sugar 150 g/l. 750 ml bottle. Consumed over two days. Each half of the bottle was decanted separately per evening and stored in the decanter during the evening of consumption. Strong yellow-golden color. Powerful aromas of hazelnut, exotic fruit, raisin, acetone, honey, earth, minerals and noble rot. Pure, rich and fresh flavors of pineapple, honey, lemon, hazelnut, earth, minerals and noble rot. Sweet. Medium- body. Medium acidity. Excellent balance. Good structure. Good complexity. Pure. Very intense. Good concentration. Very very long finish with honey, minerals and noble rot. Day one: A great sweet wine. Rich, pure, intense, fresh and complex. Sweet but not heavy. The sweetness is very nicely balanced with acidity. A very nice pairing with Thai food (green curry with shrimps) but performs best alone. Performs good all the way from fridge to room temperature. Improves substantially with air. Will improve for many years in the cellar, but why wait any longer. 97/100 Day two: Riper, sweeter, richer, heavier, longer. More honey and exotic fruit. Saffron. Was offered during a dinner with Domain Francois Gaunoux. The wine is still very vivid, lively, typical of an sold Sauternes. Toffee, butterscotch but also some apricot fruits in it. The palate continued with the strong fruit flavors candied tropical fruits, dried fruits. Sweet, but not like a port or sherry. Honey - wait, jam/marmalade. Oh god, yes, an apricot marmalade.
