Relatively light, with more of a texture that feels like Auslese than sweetness. In fact, by modern standards, this is probably more like Kabinett sweetness. Quite high acidity, but disappointingly simple on the palate, showing very heightened acidity and a bit of thinness that I wouldn't expect from a Dönnhoff Auslese. |

It is a rounded rich flavor that draws into a lingering finish. I liked that compared to other Rieslings it didn't show too strong on the acidity and paired nicely with food. |

It’s young, yes, but ready to be chugged straight from the bottle if you can’t wait a decade. Beautiful nose of all sorts of citrus fruit, nectarine, peach, crushed rocks, jasmine. Palate is electric, with some nice fruit concentration to contribute to the structure. Not hefty in any way, but has enough power to carry it into years and years of aging. Balance on point, varietal expression on point. Just an all around incredible wine. VFI (19.5)........hard to relate colour to the freshness of flavours, perhaps cf Huet Vouvray Cuvee Constance or an old Tokay Essencia!! |
