Comparable to a good white burgundy in style with a very, very long finish. I agree that this wine still has a lot of years ahead but it was a joy drinking it last night. I bought it at the estate itself and kept it at 12 degrees in my cellar. The estate told me when I bought it that this wine needed in between 5 and 10 years in the cellar. |

The nose is shy at first, slowly revealing oaky nuances, tangerine peel, dried Cretian pear and yellow peach. Moderately intense on entry, I found it muddled at first with prominent oak spices but reticent fruit. Crisp acidity. With some air, notes of almond croissant, spice and fynbos honey work nicely with the fleshiness of Williams pear and ripe Valencia oranges. Medium-bodied, there is a gentle phenolic sensation present and the wine finished medium to long with a warm, slightly prickly alcohol finish. Overall, the palate outperforms the nose. |
