Dinner at parcelles. This was young and wound extremely tight, didn't budge over 90 mins. Dark beaujolais with black cherry, blackberry, rich berry fruit, good acidity and minerality carry this. There's a sense of the soil similarity to n Rhone with some olive tapenade/gamey/earthy ish tones, doesn't quite get there but enough to get the sense that this is more than acid and fruit eventually. Haven't had la souteronne 22 but i imagine this would be similar or better quality, pricey but one to watch.

My first time with a wine from Henri Chauvet - getting a lot of traction lately!

This had the feel of a dark Beaujolais Cru to me, and I do feel this needs several more years in the cellar to ease up a little.

Black cherry, blackberry, chokeberry and dark plum really gives a nice touch of fruit, but they're dark and quite broody.
Really earthy, mushroom, animalistic, hung meat, iron, herbal and some smoke and leather. The tannins are actually not extreme although grainy, but it's the dark and broody feel that dominates and suggests this needs more time to loosen up. Acidity and minerality are both beautiful.

This is a lovely wine that I expect to turn even better, but as the price is around €30-40 it's also competing with a lot of high-end Beaujolais, and I'm not sure I'd choose this then...

Bu a l’aveugle
Un nez de gamay frais et pur, élégant, gourmand, cerise , bonbon krema, fleurs des champs, fraise écrasée et légumes (rafles?). Bref tout ce que j’aime…
Passé le doute du pinot (ben oui), le gamay s’affirme dans un registre solaire, souple, mûr mais alors avec une énorme fraîcheur pour l’équilibrer avec bonheur (acidité salvatrice).
Le genre de vin qui se sirote avec délectation, parfumé, un rien végétal (intrigant à l’aveugle, ça sonnait pas bojo), un rien très mûr (il a fait chaud!) et j’allais sur brouilly (façon Lapalu/dufaitre, avec qq années de plus).
Très très bon!
Ça m’évoquait aussi dans la maturité un joli cinsault.
Quelle belle acidité minérale cependant !

Raspberry, cranberry and strawberries, fresh citrus, violet, mint leaf, red beet and minerality.
This is dominatet by the gamay, but maybe the pinot is what gives it some extra kick to the strawberries and makes it so delightfully fragrant and satiny in its texture? It is a very delicious wine, both feeling natural and clean at the same time.

For a second vintage in Auvergne this is ambitiously priced (bought for 42 EUR in France) but the quality is about on par with the price, but I will not follow it steeply upwards. Seems a little bit over the top how it is already allocated - its not that small a production surely (the Domaine is 10 hectares) and there are so many great gamays out there.

A blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir. Light, slightly hazy red. Red-fruited nose with hints of smokey aromas which remind me of other Auvergne Gamays I tasted in the past. On the palate, it's light, salivating, with fine tannins. There are elements of natural wine but nothing out of control. Very nice to drink now with food.

A really solid bottle of gamay. On the darker side of the fruit spectrum, with what I think are whole cluster notes and even some volcanic minerality. Completely clean and well balanced on the palate. Would love to try this again with a few more years of age.

This natural unfiltered gamay was excellent. Medium body, medium acid, notes of dark fruit, mineral, and subtle earthiness. Soft tannins. An all around winner!

Robe pourpre d'intensité moyenne

Nez complexe d'intensité moyenne- cerise rouge et noir, rose, pivoine, pêche, humus, terreux, tourbe qui a gagné en profondeur le deuxième jour (notes poudrées en fin de verre).

La bouche était trop fluide au départ mais à gagné en concentration et matière le deuxième jour.

Belle interprétation avec un nez qui était supérieur.

Very nice QPR vintage Blanc de Noir. Lovely golden colour, bready and rich nose, very vinous. On the palate it is thick, almost syrupy at the end, with notes akin to barley sugar (signs of some age) and roasted nuts. Not necessarily elegant but a very versatile food pairing Champagne

Pale orange colour
Rich nose, apricot, peaches, flakey pastry, almond,
Full body, creamy texture, marmite, meaty notes, orange rind. Lovely tang to this. Rich and round.
Fades a bit in the middle and then it has a long savoury yeasty finish.
Lots going on here. Exceptional value at under £30 a bottle.
