Light-colored and medium-bodied. Very pleasant nose of red fruit, graphite, clay, and spice. Hits the palate with strawberry and cherry notes and has a refreshing, crisp acidity. Medium finish. If I had to compare, would liken to a good Russian River Valley Pinot. Did not decant and drank directly from bottle. Thoroughly enjoyable and would like to try another with a few more years of age.

complex nose; light body/mouth texture, albeit evolving in the glass with unique sensations--sweet floral and grapefruit at the same time, plenty of je ne sais quoi; acidity and black tea keeps this bright; cherry is the main fruit, but this is not about the fruit; unique and likely found only on mount etna

A difficult wine, very grippy, over-brewed black tea character, which overpowers the fruit, which is very restrained. A difficult vintage? It is an intense wine, with depth and complexity beneath the extraction, it may improve with age.

Very Good++ / Excellent-
Concurring with EANTNAY's March 2023 TN. Pretty wine with a rustic bent, mid-weight. Paired well with a red shellfish sauce pasta dish. Very easy to drink!

Medium ruby fading to pink with a thin watery rim. Big nose of strawberry, tar, sweet tobacco, roses, and cedar. There is a touch of high note - is it eucalyptus? Medium bodied on the palate with good acidity, medium tannins, and a long aftertaste of minerals, plumb, and a citrus varnish sensation I get mostly through my nose when I exhale. Ok, weird, I know.

I really like this! I find Etna Rossos exasperating. They are wonderful 1/3 of the time and very meh the other 2/3rds. I'm happy this falls into the first category. I can compare it favorably with a big burgundy. Highly recommended. Drink now through 2026.

great nose of roses and red fruit and other stuff; this has matured with more secondary notes but less tension, and i think i liked the younger version a bit better; now a bit less nebbiolo-like and a little more burgundian, though still its own thing, in a good way.

Immediately disliked this as the nose screams cough sweet- intense medicinal blackcurrant pastille- but with air sweet red and blue fruit, peonies and salty minerality sit beneath and carry through to the palate. Smooth, low in tannins, and just a touch chewy on the finish. Opened up after a couple of days in the fridge door with some spicy aromatic oak notes adding complexity and, while I’d usually prefer Nerello Mascalese slightly chilled, this was fuller and more expansive at room temperature without losing balance. Grew on me.

Grown on pre-phylloxera rootstock at c. 750m, aged in barrique for 8 months

One of my favorite all time wines and very drinkable. Really nice medium body with strong tannins. Plenty of minerality with notes of graphite and cherries on the front end.

Nice floral aromatics. On the palate raspberry liqueur, bit of menthol and iron. Dusty tannins. Medium body, somewhat extracted, but a nice package overall. 14.5% ABV.

I found the wine wonderfully aromatic, with real aromatic thrill and lift and verve etc etc. It gets better on the palate - fleshy fruits (a ripe apricot or peach, perhaps), wet stone minerality and a herbal, tonic quality. Really nice and unusual and delicious. And what a smart label!

Good, but shy of vg. PnP, served non-blind. Agglomerated cork, medium(-) body that adds a touch of weight as it aerates/successive glasses. There's a roundness to the tart strawberry. high-ish acidity; .Pinot-like, with an avg finish, and complexity. Perhaps still developing, though this is my last one. Thru 2029 recommended.

Light bodied as expected was not terribly fragrant on the nose but had some nice lavender and other floral notes on the back palate with a lingering floral taste

This has a very pleasant, medium-bodied profile. Smooth, berry and sour cherry flavors with tea-like notes on the nose and palate. Despite its character leaning a little to the mature side, fine tannins keep it lively. I wouldn’t wait much longer to drink this.

Wow! Complex nose of fruit, flowers & herbs, with some earthiness & hint of smoke leaping out of the glass. Deep red color, dark cherry flavors with sweet tannin. An Etna Rosso on the fuller bodied end of the spectrum. Paired with Spanish chorizo, shrimp & tomato squid ink pasta. The wine played perfectly with the heat & smoked paprika in the chorizo.

Vanilla flowers start, with red currant and raspberries. Second nose of nutmeg and cinnamon, balsamic herbs, and dark fruits and Maracuja blossom. Clean quick finish on palate, with little tannic persistence. Balsamic almost bitter aftertaste (volcanic?) of a red-fruit-forward, fading note.

My first Nerello & Etna Rosso. Not quite what I was expecting. Very light, tawny edges, great acidity. Prune on the nose, palate fresh cherry and tea. Good with food. Not a re-buy but interesting.

Italian Wine Night (Oak Barrel, Elizabeth Street, Sydney): Sour black cherry, earthy, savoury underpin, a smidge of rocky minerality, quite meaty with time and agitation. Rocky, savoury and meaty, wet stone fruit in the background shows a little black cherry and blackcurrant, the tannins are quite stony and drying as well with a touch of oak on the finish. Hmm.

Light ruby fading to orange with a clear watery rim. Raspberry, leather, basalmic, and oolong tea on the nose. The plate has medium body, grippy tannins, medium acidity, cherry and strong mineral streak leading to a medium-long finish.

One of the best Narello Mascalese I have had, and I am a fan. Drink now through 2028. Strongly recommended.

It's really weird. I drank this wine at a restaurant in Amsterdam in September and I liked it so much that I bought a half case on the spot - literally - from the merchant who had supplied the wine to the restaurant. I have now had three bottles from this lot, and in all three the oak really sticks out unpleasantly in a sweet and resinous way. I would never dream of calling this "Chambolle from the Etna", like I did in September. What could be wrong? The huge difference is really disconcerting. If we can't trust two cases of the same wine from the same producer and sold by the same importer to be consistent, what are we to do?

Appearance is a light ruby, long legs. Nose is a little disappointing, blackberry, cranberry, heavy alcohol, woody. Palate is medium plus acid, medium tannins, medium plus alcohol that could be better integrated. Taste of pomegranate , cranberry, dried meat, olives, cedar, leather , smoky finish. Decanted about 45 minutes without much change of flavor profile, tannins still strong. I will let the other half bottle decant a couple hours and see what happens. Maybe time in the cellar would do it some good, but the flavors don’t seem concentrated enough and the balance does not seem like it would benefit much. Overall drinkable, but will not buy again.

During a walkabout tasting of Denz wines, only brief impressions. I loved this producer with his elegant wines, Burgundian and floral wines with tons or red fruit. Excellent showing for the entire portfolio. This was the best of the three Crus on display. 93+
