The nose needs an hour to fully open up its aromatics. There are ripe raspberries and cherries, earthy clove and star anise, sweet licorice and cinnamon sticks. Savoury, spicy and fruity. A dense wine but this is not forward or in your face. There is a good degree of restrain and depth which need to be uncovered as you swirl the wine in the glass and on your palate. Rich entry, extended mid-palate and a slightly bitter finish with a touch of tannins structure for aging. May need a touch more fresh acidity in this full-bodied wine to make it more exciting in the finish. Need more time for the tannins to soften and structure to lose some fat so that it is better balance. Let this age for another 2-3 years. 91-92 pts.

Black fruit, toasted herbs & burnt spices. Med body, cooked red fruits (cherries, raspberries), little herb (dill?) and smoke thrown in. Med- finish, somewhat thin, with little supporting tannin.

Part of a Syrah tasting, this didn't play the role I expected. Lighter body than anticipated, but with very jammy/cooked fruits.

Medium ink red. Cigars, vanilla, cassis. Fruit soft, but fading, now driven by strong pepper tannins. Unbalanced.

Dark garnet. Mix of black and red fruit with oak and some olive undertones. Medium body. Medium acid. Well integrated tannins. Very nice.

In 2023, this wine had gone past its prime. Still a smooth drink but fruits hard to pick out.

I had this almost a year ago with an A&W burger but this time it's a burger from Aloette Go, run by one of Toronto's Michelin chefs. More complex Aromas than before of ash, violet, oak, vanilla, game, black fruits, chocolate, and bell pepper.

Flavours of Plum, blackberry, vanilla, pepper, bell pepper, and menthol. The finish is a little thin but fantastic with burgers and the burgers from Aloette were top-notch at a decent price.

Still going strong, barely any real age showing. No hard edges, nice wine, though it's a bit simple.

Trying to like it. It’s not bad as a summer wine with ice in it. Sangria like.

{cork, 14.9%} Nearly two years on from the last taste, and this has mellowed nicely. Blackberry and chocolate on the nose and palate. Still very soft on the palate, with fruit dominating fine powdery tannins and near non-existent acidity. Still rich and ripe, and mostly managing to contain the heat from the alcohol. Medium/full weight. Even if patchy palate, without strong personality - you’re not leaning to either cabernet or shiraz really. Medium length, slightly warm palate, at peak I reckon.

Nice aged wine & brick red color. Had some cork deteriation issues which fortunately didn't affect quality of wine once sieved out! Long fruity palate.

Surprised to find a 2013 on the shelves. This is very fruit centric (blackberry, black raspberry) with a hint of leather and fine-grained tannins. Very long finish of fresh black fruit flavors with crisp acidity.

Clear deep ruby/garnet; clean medium plus nose of balsamic, leather, cassis and vanilla; dry; high acidity; medium tannins; high alcohol; medium body; medium plus flavour intensity; palate is tarter with addition of black licorice and tar; long finish; drink now or in a few years; drinking much better than our first bottle; nice development!

Yep, everybody’s right on this one. Classic Barossa profile from a wonderful vintage. This is what happens when you give quality shiraz a few years of bottle age.

I think this wine was lost in the lineup. I don't recall much about it unfortunately. Giving this one a pass as what I've had in the past was really good.

Revisit.

NobleRottersSydney - Burgundy (Fix, St James, Sydney): {375ml, screwcap, 12.5%} Solid gold colour. Mature nose of rich honey, marzipan, vanilla. Palate is medium/dry, still rich but with a varietal hint of grassiness under the honey and marzipan flavours. No botrytis. Nicely balanced around ‘medium’ for structural elements, but definitely a drink now proposition for best effect.
