  Medium ink red. Cigars, vanilla, cassis. Fruit soft, but fading, now driven by strong pepper tannins. Unbalanced.

  Dense. Dark red. Cigar box. Black cherries. Plumby. Slightly astringent finish. Surviving well.

  Gifted this by good friends....it is a unique wine for sure. I've not had much experience with aged Shiraz from Barossa. Screw cap removed and poured with immediate bricking noted, not just the rim but the whole glass. Aged, oxidized scents of prune/raisin, black dirt from the garden and maybe a little smoke? There's some gentle black pepper and spicebox, maybe Asian spices? Light to mid weight in the mouth, whatever tannins this had are well integrated. It's different for sure and enjoyable but not enough for me to chase this one down for more purchasing.
