Don't bother. Sure Puligny-Montrachet on the label drew my attention, but if tasted blind, this Chardonnay would be forgettable. Not all Puligny-Montrachets are equal. Some wineries, like Paul Pernot, charge premium prices for average quality wine simply by leveraging the Premier Cru reputation of the famous commune.

This wine is so satisfying, glides along, easy and pleasing. Sometimes I just want to sip and smile, not think about what I'm drinking, but nonetheless enjoying the moment: this is that kind of wine. I enjoy Muscadet. This Domaine des Amoureux Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie will never win prizes except from me, fulfilling the very reason why I drink wine, the pleasure, the enjoyment of fermented grapes. I'm buying more. Super QPR!

2019 Château Tour Saint-Christophe

St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend more

4/19/2024 - der Schmecker Likes this wine: 92 points

This is one of those so-called nouveaux Bordeaux, meaning that your mouth won't be coated with sediment and you can actually taste the fruit without immediately being hit by lingering elements of clay soil.
Deep, rich, serious and satisfying.
Château Tour Saint-Christophe helps to pull me back to Bordeaux, giving me a reason to not give up on the region, to continue to sample instead of switching my allegiance to Australia, California or Washington wines.
Merci beaucoup.

Damn good wine.
There are lots of other reviews, all of them valid.
If you didn't buy upon release, too late.
For you, considering a future vintage, this is relevant, the past is indicative, and this is a very solid wine.

2017 Hendry Red Wine Hendry Vineyard

Napa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend more

4/7/2024 - der Schmecker Likes this wine: 93 points

Silky smooth, mid-weight, lengthy and lingering taste that brings out the different flavors of the different varietals. Very enjoyable wine with a pleasing freshness. High quality wine worth seeking.
Typically Hendry is able to pick slightly less than two tons per acre of Cabernet Sauvignon and slightly more than two tons per acre for the other Bordeaux varietals in this blend, of which Merlot is the highest percentage at 28%.
Hendry ferments each of these five Bordeaux varietals individually and then barrel ages them all for one year. After the first year of barrel aging, the final blend is created before returning the wine to barrel for the final six months, which develops a more subtle tannic structure than a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon wine. Aged for a total of 18 months in French oak barrels, 70-75% of which were new.

2017 Bedrock Wine Co. Heritage Wine Evangelho Vineyard

Contra Costa County Zinfandel Blend, Zinfandel more

4/3/2024 - der Schmecker Likes this wine: 94 points

Prime drinking window right now. I've learned to wait at least seven years before uncorking Bedrock Evangelho Vineyard wine: open too early and the wine can be astringent. If you wait, the wine blossoms into Zinfandel deliciousness. Outstanding wine. Purple. Dense. Multiple taste sensations. Smooth. An experience.

2018 Oakridge Pinot Meunier

Yarra Valley more

3/29/2024 - der Schmecker Likes this wine: NR

Revisiting four plus years later with my last bottle of this berry-like, light, elegant and delicious wine. Hell yeah! This is sooo good. A dangerous wine, tempting me to keep on sipping. Until I sampled Oakridge's Pinot Meunier, I never had the pleasure of drinking Pinot Meunier as a stand-alone varietal wine, which echoes a high quality Pinot Noir or Cinsault. Just lovely. I'm grateful that Oakridge made a stand-alone Pinot Meunier bottling, not a varietal that people know much about or are clamoring for, but solid and eminently satisfying.

3/29/2024 - der Schmecker Likes this wine: 93 points

Whoa! Smooth and transcendent, but with that solid oomph, a punctuation like a solid hit on a big bass drum that makes you know this is Syrah. Grown in one of the coolest temperature areas capable of growing Syrah in California. Highly recommend. All of The Language of Yes wines tasted at K&L's event were excellent.

2022 The Language of Yes Grenache En Passerillage Rancho Real

Santa Maria Valley more

3/29/2024 - der Schmecker Likes this wine: 94 points

One of the best Grenache wines I have had the good fortune to imbibe. Sophisticated, top shelf, refreshing.
For this vintage, Randall Graham air dried the grapes for a few days before crushing, which elevated the quality of this vintage from the 2021 vintage; the difference is noticeable, something to do with the stems.
Tasted at K&L's The Language of Yes event. I am very impressed by the quality of The Language of Yes wines. I had Bonny Doon wines years ago, but these wines are of a much higher quality level: superb and delicious.

Delicious and serious California Chardonnay, reminding me of why I love Chardonnay wine. The first sip is just so welcoming, without being overbearing or fruity, there is an element of structure without being stiff or one dimensional, just a lovely, refined wine that demands a pause, contemplation and appreciation. Bravo!

2016 Bedrock Wine Co. Syrah T 'n' S Blocks Hudson Vineyard South

Carneros more

3/13/2024 - der Schmecker Likes this wine: 94 points

Purple. Round, deep and smooth. Tannins have softened and this glides along, not lightly because there is substance and weight, but no effort is needed to enjoy and appreciate this wine. A benchmark Syrah, one that I compare other Syrahs to, which is meant as an accolade.
I waited to uncork this beauty with friends who I know appreciate and think about wine, but the occasion never appeared and so I pulled out a Riedel Syrah glass to toast the high quality work of Bedrock Wine Company and my good fortune to be able to enjoy this wine. Cheers!
