The CDLR was almost port-like ripeness for Pinot Nior. Very ripe with a touch of alcohol on the nose. The pallet was full-bodied, concentrated and intense. A different animal than the CSD with with CDLR being a more massive wine. The CSD was elegant, refined and pure. Today, I prefer the CSD - I’m not sure the 2010 CDLR is going to be ethereal, but it definitely needs more time in the bottle before we know just how great this wine really is or isn’t. |

The Clos St Denis had a beautiful aromatic expression, softer and more pure than the almost port like ripeness of the CDLR. The Clos Saint Denis texture was almost velvet followed by pure and subtle fruit. In this head to head match up, in this vintage I prefer the CSD. |
