Finally starting to come around. Has been shut down for so long but the nose is finally starting to unfurl. Still not completely open though. No oxidization or hint of vinegar thank god. The sweetness which we remember from the first couple of years after bottling are peaking through after years behind the acid veil. This might actually become really good!

(Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Ducs) Bricked medium dark red violet color; earthy, dried cherry nose; tart cherry, tart raspberry palate with medium acidity; could still use a few years; medium-plus finish 91+ points

Some Volnay elegance but it showed earthiness. Quite common with the domaine’s wine in this era.

Very muscular tannins. Fresh and stewed dark and red berries. Not my favorite style.

Pausing for the Cause Fundraiser and Dinner (Galit - Chicago IL): I really like this wine, but others love it. I always find it big and flashy, but it has never spoken "Volnay" to me. Same tonight.
