When this is right it is really very good. The bottle tonight felt a little past its prime. Great mouth feel but just a bit of that burnt prune on the palate that felt over baked to me. Wine was begging for food and I enjoyed it more with some very sharp cheddar. If you have some I would enjoy them. Not a bottle I am going to seak out going forward. I have had a bunch of fun following this bottle over the last couple years. Think I have one or two left and will drink before the year is out. Stay tuned! |

4/29/2024 - WineGuyDelMar Likes this wine: 95 pointsWine of our Florida trip graciously brought by Mark1npt to our Marco Island condo. Served alongside a 14 Malescot St Exupery, 15 Dominio de Aguila Reserva and a Mayback Cab. Clearly the best wine by far. Classic Old World Bordeaux nose of cedar, leather, tobacco, cassis & forest floor. Modern Bordeaux but packed with structure & flavor. Probably the most accessible 05 Left Bank I’ve had so far. This was so opulent and open for business. Thank you Mark for sharing this amazing bottle. It was one of the best LB’s I’ve had in a long time, 1 person found this helpful, do you? 4/29/2024 - Silver Thunder wrote: 97 pointsNo decant. Popped and tasted every 15min. It was ready in 20mins. We also tasted La Mission Haut Brion and Chateau Client all 1989. Also 1995 Chateau Palmer and 2005 Chateau Rauzan-Gassies. The Haut Brion and C. Palmer took the night easily. The Haut Brion was gloriously subtle but still had a complex boutique of flavors! Notes of black tea, cherry, prune, jasmine, and some capsicum. There was a hint of flint, soy sauce, leather, and truffle. One of the longest finishes for a wine I've tasted in a while. Great classic and will pop another in a couple of months. A prodigy vintage! |

Needless to say, my palate may not be 100% up to par. This wine seems different from previous bottles of this I have tasted. Very interesting nose and palate. I think that there may be a slight flaw in the wine, but certainly didn't detract from the enjoyment, but rather may have increased it. Dark fruit, tobacco, smoke with a 'sweet/sour' component to both the nose and palate. Long finish. Second in flight to the Latour imo. |

Just that perfect balance of cabernet franc perfume, but with none of the ashy greenness on the palate either. Generous fruit but not overwhelmingly so, and plenty of black-fruited weight here. Very approachable and enjoyable now, though clearly not a wine that will suffer for aging. |

4/28/2024 - NMSteve Likes this wine: NRTerrific. Drinking very young. As usual for this cuvee there’s a pretty good balance between sauvignon blanc and semillon character with the SB tending to be more flamboyant and forward and the semillon hanging back a little. Plenty of spine/acidity to this making it a great match with rich seafood. Where these wines really shine is with the right food match. 4- (out of 5). |

3/24/2024 - SouthernStateofMind wrote: NRFive (5) years since last visit. Decanted three (3) hours. Concur with "PPMM's" observations. Presents a lighter version than prior experience as oak has subsided significantly. Distinct herbal aroma is accompanied with muted aromas of lemon, apricot, pineapple, coconut & vanilla. Rounded with honeyed texture on the palate; ripe fruit is measured against lively acidity that leads to long satisfying finish. Drinking beautifully now and should do so for the foreseeable future. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |
