3/25/2024 - dclaggett Likes this wine: 89 pointsThis wine is at or past peak, depending on your preference. Hints of decline, sweet barn straw, peak maturity fruit and fungus, deep gold coloring, waxy full mouthfeel, med length finish with noticeable oxidative features. Drink up! |

2014 Eperosa Sémillon BlancBarossa Valley more |
3/25/2024 - dclaggett Likes this wine: 94 pointsUpping my rating after several years of development and maturity. This is an exceptional bottle: darker yellow/gold color, leans towards the more acidic and vibrant profile (remarkable after 10 years), and finishes full, long and layered. More chamomile than beeswax, more lemon and pear than apricot. A wine to drink chilled, ideally with food, and good conversation afterward. Very well made, enjoy! |

2019 Vice Versa Pinot Noir Platt VineyardSonoma Coast more |
3/23/2024 - dclaggett Likes this wine: 93 points14.0% abv. One of the best Cali Pinot Noir’s I’ve had: restraint, acidity, perfume, length - hard to ask for more. Clear garnet, prodigious clear legs, primarily red fruit, Christmas tree, underbrush on nose. Med plus weight and mouthfeel. It just snaps into place on palate: long and juicy acid, red fruit, Asian spice, green tea, very long and layered finish. One to enjoy now and lay down for a decade, or more. Very well made. |

3/16/2024 - dclaggett Likes this wine: 94 points14.8% abv. Clear garnet, long clear legs. Higher toned red fruit, Christmas tree, cocoa nib, bramble. Med weight, grainy tannins, 60 sec finish, layered; cerebral and very enjoyable. Has 10 years to go. |

2009 BOND MatriarchNapa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend more |
2/25/2024 - dclaggett Likes this wine: 91 points14.5% abv. Dark garnet/plum color, opaque core. Viscous, glass staining red tears. Dry tannins on pnp that fade after 60 min and offer hint of sweetness, however, a monolithic profile persists. Bold black and red fruit, plum, licorice all jumble together to show flashes of great fruit overshadowed by oak and blending. Throws modest sediment; not sure this has more than 2-3 good years left. |

2014 Ryme Aglianico Passito Luna MattaPaso Robles more |
2/24/2024 - dclaggett Likes this wine: 89 points13.2% abv - 161 grams/liter of sugar. This is a passito styled wine - dried grapes, to concentrate sugars and bring about unique flavors. The wine is showing some bricking in glass, with clear garnet color. Red fruit, fruitcake, some tomato aspic on nose. Medium weight (especiallly for a dessert styled wine), with noticeable acidity, black cola, cherry and ripe blackberries - signs of rhubarb and Macintosh apple on the med plus finish. Not overly complex but enjoyable. Drink soon |

2007 Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon The Montelena EstateCalistoga more |
2/15/2024 - dclaggett Likes this wine: NRConsumed over 2 hrs at Amrina Valentine’s dinner. Dark ruby, near opaque core, pretty perfumed nose dominated by red and black fruit, spice, eucalyptus and flowers. Med weight, moderate acidity and velvet tannins that are nearing fully resolved. Finish lingers in a slow sultry way. Soft, refined and elegant wine. |

2016 Aubert Pinot Noir Sonoma Coastmore |
2/12/2024 - dclaggett Likes this wine: 93 points15.0% abv. Light garnet color, clear core. Wild strawberry, rhubarb, guava, five spice, rooibos tea, distinctive cola notes that California Pinots are known for, but very subtle. Juicy acidity carries a med weight frame, flashes some tannins that shows on tip of tongue and roof of mouth, and finishes reasonably long with layered complexity. Quite showy and pleasurable, especially compared to its single vineyard brothers and sisters. Drink now and for next 3 years. |

2021 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Le Serre NuoveBolgheri Red Bordeaux Blend more |
1/15/2024 - dclaggett Likes this wine: 92 points14.5% abv. A little one dimensional but that can be forgiven considering it’s a second wine. A right bank blend if I’m not mistaken. Dark red and black fruit, spice, med plus weight and mouthfeel. Exceptional with food. Just enough acid and tannin make this a very good buy, just unsure how long it will age. |

2016 Keplinger Hangman'sCarneros Syrah more |
1/12/2024 - dclaggett Likes this wine: 94 points14.7% abv. 95% Syrah, 5% Viognier from Hudson Carneros vineyard. Dark crimson/magenta color, opaque core. Threw a fine sediment straight from cellar. Despite high alc not hot on nose at all - blue and red fruits, bay leaf, fragrant flowers, mildest sense of funk under it all. Med plus weight, quite smooth. Black cherries, more bay leaf, sun-dried tomato, flashes of grilled meat, savory and bacon. 45sec finish. Near peak drinking window, enjoy for another 7+ years. Exotic and stylish. |

1/10/2024 - dclaggett Likes this wine: 96 points14.4% abv. Dark crimson color. Slightly muted nose at 55 deg, but still showing dark fruit, black cherries, graphite, flowers. Med plus weight, luxurious mouthfeel. Tannins have softened somewhat: spice-box, dusty cocoa, cherries, Christmas tree. Showing exceptionally well right now - should hold at this level for 3-5 more years. Bravo |

12/5/2023 - dclaggett Likes this wine: 90 points14.0% abv. Dark garnet color, light rim. Quite powerful perfume dominated by red fruit, green tea, spices - gives off some heat in glass. Lively flavor and texture, decent levels of acid that linger on palate - more red fruit, dusty spices, herbaceous. Med weight in mouth, med length finish. This wine will benefit from another 5-7 years in cellar - if opening now decant for 1-2 hours. |

2015 Domaine Saint Préfert Châteauneuf-du-Pape BlancWhite Rhone Blend more |
11/28/2023 - dclaggett Likes this wine: 94 points13.5% abv. Last bottle. 5 years later the color has taken on decidedly more golden yellow color. Glass coating clear legs. On nose ripe pear, white flowers, hint of citrus. On palate: pear, subtle tropical fruit, lemon, and closes with fromage blanc and hint of grassiness - curious to see where this goes in 10-15 more years. Med plus weight in mouth, med length finish, no signs of fading yet, plenty of juicy acid and some tannins. Hard to compare this to other CdP blancs as there is such high % of Clairette in her blends (her magnums are 100% Clairette) but I enjoy this equally with food or on its own. Very good wine, great value - I recall this cost less than $40USD. |

2005 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Galitzine VineyardRed Mountain more |
11/22/2023 - dclaggett Likes this wine: 94 points14.9% abv. Dark plum color, purple core, extremely viscous staining of tears. Example of mature WA state Cabernet: blackberry, Christmas cake, menthol on nose. Tannins still present but very much in background. German chocolate cake, macerated dark berries, hint of spice, dirt, pronounced sweet finish, smooth and fades slowly and wistfully. Took on weight after 1hr open. Cork was perfect, no leakage, tartrate crystals covered the end. Minor signs of sediment. Peak drinking imo. |

11/20/2023 - dclaggett Likes this wine: 91 points14.9% abv. 63% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petit Verdot. Dark garnet core, light rim. PNP notes: Some heat in glass, dark fruit, deep brooding nose. Very lush in mouth, tannins mostly faded, sweet black fruit, plums, cocoa, spice. At peak, possibly fading for some palates. This bottle was stored well, cork was dry no leaking. Drink now with food and friends, and contemplate what your life looked like in late 2004. |

11/19/2023 - dclaggett Likes this wine: 92 points14.0% abv. Dark gold, almost orange color. Viscous in glass. Served cold and let it open up in glass. Ripe pineapple, mandarin orange, mango, slightly off dry. Quite zippy and tannic in mouth. Very long teeth coating finish (60+ sec): marmalade, caramelized peaches, exotic fruits, barn straw. This wine rides a fine line between varietal correctness and overripe but stays in check - intriguing and thought provoking. |

2018 Christopher Tynan Wines Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside blocks C. Corbett Family VineyardNapa Valley more |
11/15/2023 - dclaggett Likes this wine: 94 points13.5% abv. Low alcohol, red berry, underbrush, spice and lean style bottle that begs for for deep sleep. Grace Family purchased Corbett Family vineyard approx 5 years ago - this is grape juice from very old vines. Exceptional old school Cabernet now, but will reward 10-20 year cellaring. |
