2/18/2012 - nickbb Likes this wine: 88 pointsNeeded a couple of houirs for the funk to blow off, but a nice wine, especially on the second day. A bit Burgundian for me, but needs drinking up now as it's in danger of falling over soon. |

2/13/2012 - nickbb wrote: 83 pointsSoft strawberries and cedar on the nose, palate lacks some depth, with notes of redcurrants and slightly underripe red fruits. The acidity is right and refreshing, and the finish is short. A decent midweeker to have with a pizza or some pasta perhaps? |

2005 Morlanda (Viticultors del Priorat) Priorat Vega EscalGrenache Blend, Grenache more |
1/29/2012 - nickbb Likes this wine: 89 pointsIntense nose of vanilla and stewed dark fruits. The palate is a mix of chocolate, leather and those dark fruits with a touch of port. The tannins are well integrated and the mouthfeel is smooth. Overall a very pleasant experience, and I would say this wine still has some legs if you can wait. |

10/27/2011 - nickbb Likes this wine: 89 pointsVery approachable, with vanilla and cherries on the nose, which carry through to the palate. Smooth, and able to be drunk on it's own. |

10/18/2011 - nickbb wrote: 91 pointsBig thick and heady. This wine is quite hedonistic, with smoky leathery characteristics on the nose. Thick legs in the glass, and the palate is full of smoky cherries and soft tannins. The finish has a very grown up and slightly bitter edge which is not unpleasant. A very nice wine. |

2009 Tesco Finest Riesling Howard Park Tingleup Vineyard Great Southernmore |
9/16/2011 - nickbb Likes this wine: 90 pointsVery good value Reisling. Lots of citrus, notably lemon lime and minerals. The finish is long, and this should last a few years yet. For £6.68 at Tesco, this is the best value wine i've had this year. |

2008 Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz CabernetSouth Australia Cabernet-Shiraz Blend, Red Blend more |
7/13/2011 - nickbb wrote: 85 pointsSome cigar box, oak and jammy dark fruits on the nose. The palate had a touch too much alchohol with a slightly hot finish. The predominant taste was of ever so slightly bitter plums. I'm a fan of Penfolds generally, but this was a midweek stand in at best for me. |

2007 Feudi di San Gregorio Greco di Tufo CutizziGreco di Tufo DOCG more |
7/3/2011 - nickbb wrote: 87 pointsIntense nose of lemon oil and some honey. First night on the palate, there was some grapefruit and lemon notes. Second night, it took on a quite pronounced apple taste. I really like Feudi Di San Gregorio's wines, and found this as yet untried (for me) grape (Greco Di Tufo) interesting but it didn't blow me away. |

2006 Donato d'Angelo Aglianico del Vulturemore |
6/16/2011 - nickbb wrote: 88 pointsLovely nose straight out of the bottle, with cherries, tobacco and red fruits. The palate needs a bit of decant time, which is rewarded with a nicely balanced wine featuring dried fruits, some herbs and lively red fruits. The acidity and tannins are in place in the right quantity, and although the finish is a bit short this as far as i'm concerned is a nice bottle. |

6/5/2011 - nickbb wrote: 86 pointsA different and not unpleasant grape experience, (Assyrtiko) Lovely nose has gooseberries, and some lemon. and on the palate some minerality, good acidity and predominantly yellow stone fruits. Very Chablis like as well. |

6/4/2011 - nickbb wrote: 90 pointsDark with an expressive nose of stewed prunes, coffee and blackberries. The mix of grapes is remarkably balanced and integrated, as are the acidity and tannins. The palate has blackberries, plums and brambles. Always reliable. |

2005 Rustenberg John X MerrimanStellenbosch Red Bordeaux Blend more |
5/22/2011 - nickbb Likes this wine: 89 pointsBig rich warm nose of blackcurrants, cigars, and a little eye watering alchohol. The palate has a big dollop of dark fruits, plums and vanilla but balanced with matching acidity, and a plush mouthfeel. The finish is a just a little hot with a touch of burnt caramel for me. Lovely wine though. |

2006 Domaine du Royal Sparre Moulin-à-Vent La RochelleGamay more |
5/11/2011 - nickbb wrote: 92 pointsThis is a really nice wine. Some age showing on the rim, the nose has some bubble gum cream and raspberries. The palate is quite earthy but with some black fruit. The mouthfeel is very luxurious and silky, and the finish is long, slightly dry, and has a lovely acidic tang. This wine is drinking beautifully now, and possibly the best value bottle I have had this year so far. |

5/4/2011 - nickbb wrote: 85 pointsNot much on the nose, some pencil shavings perhaps. Red currants are predominant on the palate, with good acidity. The mouthfeel is slightly thin, and the palate is a bit lacking. |
