September 14, 2013 - M. Coulon's five stars resort (Lascours, Provence, France): Blind tasting. Decanted one hour, served at 18'C. Dark hue with brownish borders. Suberb mature nose : leather, black peper, tobacco, little strawberries of the forest. Extraordinary complex mouth, with differents waves, leather, strawberry's flavour yogurt, ink, then comes tertiary notes as old wood chest, black tulip petals... The fruit is always dominating, carrying on with sap and some shy menthol notes, then some smoke come back. The structure (tannins, bitterness, acidity) is not noticeable, it components are melted behind. Very long after taste. For a blind palate the syrrah is obvious but what an association of lively fruit, surprising freshness in a noble finish ! An other world, I'm loosing my marks. Extraordinary 96.
