April 27, 2017 - Northern Rhone Offline (Bar Agricole, San Francisco): Double decanted and tasted. Lovely medium ruby with slight bricking appropriate for its age; nose is moderately aromatic, red fruit, some meaty and gamey notes, slight white pepper; palate is medium bodied, superb bright acidity throughout without being shrill, iodine, fresh red berry fruit throughout, medium well integrated tannins, almost elegant texture throughout; medium-length finish. Nose is nice, classic Northern Rhone but somewhat young and reticent, palate overall is very young but well balanced and shows promise. I'm curious what some oxygen will add to the wine. 92-93
6 hours slow ox: highly aromatic nose, much improved, spice, plenty of fruit. Lovely wine, more rustic in structure and style than the Chave Hermitages, but it held its own. Very nice. 93-95
