July 25, 2020 - A small gathering with COVID safety measures at Bryan's (Undisclosed location in McLean, VA): En magnum. Expressive complex nose displaying unbelievably concentration red and black fruit, dry cherry, sour cherry, blackberry, fruitcake, rose, tar, licorice, strong cedar, caramel, sweet spices and iron mineral. Exceptional concentration, layers upon layers of intense slightly dry red fruit, opulent and unctuous yet also silky and polished, also warm and round, bright acidity, strong iron mineral, still noticeable but non-obtrusive tannins and a long concentrated red fruit driven finish with tar and cedar at the end. Drinking beautifully but remains remarkably young. This has to be the most imposing Giacosa. A long life ahead.
