So I departed from my usual not serving cold and was rewarded. The flavors are much more prominent than last tasting. This showed better with some chill on it (but kept the good flavors even as it warmed up). Pale gold color. Nice bouquet and flavors of honey, floral notes, quince, tart red apple. Great acidity and balance. Long finish. Outstanding QPR. A must have

Bordeaux like polish. Pinot balance. Just phenomenal poise in the wine. With time, the Burgundy complexity will unveil. 95 today, 97 potential.

A bit on the riper and richer side of WV Pinot but still very enjoyable. Raspberry, cherry cough syrup, cola; moderated acidity, moderate finish. A crowd pleaser.

Yellow/hay in colour, clear. Aromas showing lemons, stone fruit, granny smith apples, caramel, smokiness.
Flavours follow. Medium weight, acidity + with some tanginess. Vanilla, spices, steeliness. This is aged in oak (there is an unoaked version). Nice wine. Lemon custard creaminess as well.

Color was very light ruby, Aromas of tart/sour strawberry, and spice. Not much of any tannins left, short finish and hard to think of this as a premier cru.

Some barnyard when first poured, but it blew off. Blood, iron, tobacco on the nose, but still plenty of fruit (figs, dark plums with mascarpone) and acidity on palate. Not as much heat as I expected given the abv. Overall, seems like a classic CdP in a rustic style, which I prefer.

Opaque looking, drank over two days, when scents of graphite, dried cherry and mint emerge, dry, polished, elegant, medium to full bodied with bracing acidity and taught tannins, structured, the flavors are dry, with dried red berry, mineral, black tea and cigar profile, long finish, very terroir driven, a bargain

Hour in the decanter. 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 17% Shiraz, sourced from Napa Valley, Sonoma and Paso Robles, then aged 17 months in American oak (40% new).

Big dark fruit, cigar humidor, mocha, hint of black pepper.

Tastes nice but not impressed.

Prior bottle was almost 6 months ago and my notes were again consistent. Apple, pear and citrus notes on the nose with a touch of saline coming in towards the back. Between light and medium bodied with white apple and pear still the predominant fruit notes. Grapefruit and other citrus notes on the back along with a good amount of acidity as well as some mineral notes. Balance is generally where it was in my prior bottle. The citrus notes and acidity provide good contrast to the fruit, but overall this remains a relatively uncomplicated wine with good acidity, but there wasn't anything that sound out or really differentiated this wine or justified purchases of future vintages. It's drinking well at present and should be able to hold up over the next few years.

Enclosed by screw cap, this blend of 54% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc, and 22% Cabernet Sauvignon has a medium-high intensity nose that offers enticing aromas of brambly red and dark berries, black raspberry, black cherry, and white pepper spice, plus hints of tea leaf, underbrush, and cedar wood adding further intrigue and complexity. On the dry, medium+ bodied palate, it has delicious ripe and spicy red and black berries, dark red cherry, blackberry, and red plum flavours accented with white pepper spice, tea leaf, and underbrush notes. It has juicy, well-balanced acidity, along with smooth, refined, and well-integrated tannins. Savoury and gently spicy with touches of smoke linger on the long-lasting finish. Score: 90+ pts

This unoaked blend of 50% Syrah, 30% Grenache, and 20% Mourvèdre has a fresh, lifted nose of medium-high to high intensity that is ripe and spicy with lovely red & black fruits, blackberry, raspberry, cherry, peppery spice, stony mineral, and dried herb aromas with touches of meaty and savoury notes. It is notably mid-weighted on the dry palate with complex ripe blackberry, black cherry, black raspberry, savoury meaty, stony mineral, black pepper spice, and dried herb flavours supported by tangy, juicy acidity. The smooth, refined tannins have some chalky textured and youthful grip. Stony mineral with touches of spice linger on the slightly tangy, crisp finish, with excellent length. Well-balanced and ready to drink now, but will provide pleasure over the next 5 years. Score: 90+ pts

Nice old Bruenllo. Held up well, but time to dring 'em if you have 'em. Brought to a winemaker tasting at Lincoln Fine Wines with Lorenzo hosting. The tasting was for the 20,21, and 22 Rossos, plus the 18, 19, and 13 Riserva. Shared the '04 with group. Lorenzo tasted all of the complex flavors - chocolate, tobacco, forest floor - said the acid still there and fruit long on finish. Fun to drink with him. He said his father made this wine. His first vintage was '06. Great 20 year old wine and would probably now focus on buying more '13s and onward.

Retail $45. Heavy bottle (). Under screw cap. I really liked this during the 6th Annual Blind Tasting of American Pinot Noir (93 Points) and it is right up there again. Light in color but rich in aromas, flavors, texture, and depth, this stops well short of overwhelming, but there is a lot to process here in a very good way. As with many Willamette Valley wines, the acidity carries the wine from start to finish and makes this not only a delicious sipper on its own, but fantastic with our Wagyu fajitas. Outstanding. 93 Points.

Outstanding. Brought to a winemaker tasting at Lincoln Fine Wines with Lorenzo hosting. The tasting was for the 20,21, and 22 Rossos, plus the 18, 19, and 13 Riserva. Everyone got to taste the 13 normale I brought, and it was a huge hit. Lorenzo explained that '13 is his favorite year because that was year his daughter born, so worked extra hard to make it special and last forever for her. Also said he prefers the 13 to the 10. The difference was subtle, with a slight nod to the Riserva, which he said needs even more time But the normal is amazing now and he said would be for the next 20 years. So there it is, from the source. Buy More!!

Crafted with 100% Melon de Bourgogne, this has clean, fresh, and elegant aromatics of medium-high intensity rising out of the glass with ripe lemon-lime citrus, some yeasty-leesy minerality, white peach, oyster shell, and herbal aromas. It has very good weight and concentration on the medium+ to medium-full bodied, dry, and lightly honeyed palate with delicious and complex citrusy, white peach, apple-pear, spice, and saline mineral flavours. It has nicely balanced, juicy acidity and a very finely textured mouthfeel. Apple and pear notes give way to leesy and oyster shell minerals on the long, crisp, and well-balanced finish.

Very nice! I particularly like the rotundone (black pepper) note on both the nose and the palate, but that's the bonus on top of the essence of this wine: it's fresh, lively, conveys raspberry fruit and earth in equal measure (with a touch of rhubarb), and shows great purity – the winemaking is invisible here. Many of us seek greatness in wines but to those who do, I'd argue that you should embrace REALLY GOOD wines like this one more ardently than the great ones, especially as greatness can be fleeting / ephemeral. Don't overthink: this is honest and delicious.

Enclosed by screw cap, this blend of 66% Shiraz and 34% Mataro has an elegant, fragrant, medium-high to highly aromatic nose of ripe, sweet black and purple fruits, blackberry, black cherry, and potpourri aromas with accents of savoury earth, iron, and minty herbs. It's medium-full to full-bodied with well-structured, rustic tannins and black-purple fruited and savoury flavours of blackberry, black cherry, sweet cassis, peppery spice, and graphite with persistent savoury mineral and cocoa characters. Acids are crisp and juicy. Some spice notes on the mid-palate taper to savoury graphite and mineral flavours on the long, grippy finish, with excellent length.

Aromatic and elegant with fresh strawberries, reduction, red florals, cranberry, and just a touch of earthy barnyard. The tannins are present without overwhelming, medium + acidity, and medium body. Immensely enjoyable. I am looking forward to seeing what a little bit of age will do to this.

all is correct, but nothing to commend. absolute fine in the light 'annata' style, washed down sausage pasta well, but in a region with a lot of good value choices, you can do better. improved on 2nd day to become more classic Chianti style, so v. good QPR but I'd still rather pay slightly more for e.g. Antinori's Peppoli.

Retail $15. "A semi-dry real world blend of Pinot Grigio, Voignier, Chenin Blanc, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Muscat Canelli." The winery is based in Wisconsin but there is no indication where the grapes are grown (they make wine from all over). The goal is for people to taste the wine, make comments about it, and then the winemakers would use artificial intelligence to improve subsequent vintages. Um. Well, while the concept seems pretty cutting edge, I just think they started in the wrong place. Sweet, but short of cloying, with simply not enough acidity. Plenty of tree fruit, but not much else to really laud here. Good? I guess. 86 Points.

Retail $15. Responsible Bottle (). Artificial stopper. "A semi-dry real world blend of Midwestern grapes." What the hell does that mean? The winery is based in Wisconsin but there is no indication where the grapes are grown (they make wine from all over). The goal is for people to taste the wine, make comments about it, and then the winemakers would use artificial intelligence to improve subsequent vintages. Um. Well, while the concept seems pretty cutting edge, I just think they started in the wrong place. A very wrong place. This is really not good. I admire the premise, I guess, but what the heck is going on here? Ugh. 78 Points.

I used to drink Zinfandel regularly but only occasionally now. I enjoy a good brambly Zin but most seem to have gotten away from that. This doesn’t have huge bramble but it’s there…and it is enjoyable. It’s a big Zin but it doesn’t overpower the senses. And it is a good buy at Costco…I’ll probably pickup a few more bottles.

Medium gold, sweet aromas of sour apple, lemon. Giving lots of apple on the palate, almost like cider, but develops notes of lemon and coriander. Very acid-forward, even the slightest bit astringent. Decent length, finishes with a splash of lemon. A wine that knows what it's about, though past it's prime at the time of drinking in 2024.

Picked up at auction as part of a well priced mixed lot and was at a great fill level for almost 40 y/o. Opened extremely tart and full of bell pepper but softened considerably after a couple of hours. In color and partially in aroma/palate this seems to have barely aged a day. On the nose, bell pepper, plum, rich earth, graphite, cedar; on the palate tannins were medium high but well integrated and acidity still quite high, with added notes of cherry. Not as experienced in Bordeaux than most others on here but this struck me as a textbook “traditional” Bordeaux; high acidity, low ABV, medium body, nose and palate a little rougher around the edges. Very much enjoyed but wish I’d had with a good hearty meal to balance the acidity & rusticity.
