Dark, opaque, indigo in color. Blackberry, plum and bacon fat on the nose. Immediately upon opening was pretty hot but red fruit was apparent. After 30 minutes, opened to reveal raspberry, dark cherry, coffee and earthy notes. Still tannic and structured. Full bodied with a lingering finish. A solid wine at a value price point.

PnP. ABV 13%. Never had the pleasure of drinking the ‘78 vintage but this ought to be one of the best vintages of this wine if not the best. Pretty much in this drinking plateau for a few years, tannins mostly resolved, flowers, stems, and dark soils are all there. Finished a tad spicy too. Exceptional 1er Cru and normally great value.

This was outstanding. Dark, meaty, balsamic flavors integrated with velvety texture. A very complex wine with great structure, firm but polished tannins, and a long finish. Drinking well now but has the weight and depth to go on for years. My only bottle sadly.

An entry wine of Duemani, made from single varietal of CF just like their top wine. Fermented and later aged for 7 months in cement vats, bottled without fining or filtration. Medium+ ruby colour, purple hue. Medium+ intensity fruit driven aroma, notes of black currants, black cherries, eucalyptus, licorice, green pepper, thyme. Medium body, fresh, juicy and savoury, fruit driven, silky texture, spicy edges, vibrant medium+ acidity, medium tannins.

Pale garnet. Day 1 completely reductive nose, mouth is full of acidity, almost undrinkable. Day 2 nose is clean with berries, violet, rosehip and a bit of oak and in the mouth crunchy fruitiness appears for a decent approach.

Love sojourn. Needs 30 mins to open. Such balance. Kiwis , strawberries, rhubarb, spice, long finish.

We're drinking our way through a case of this. Consistently high quality -- a very balanced chardonnay with more mineral than fruit, more Burgundy than Jura. The flavors are quite intense, so it can accompany more strongly flavored food.

Attentes élevées avec le 2013 qui avait été hallucinant. Bien que pas à ce niveau, pour l'instant, il a du potentiel pour réévaluer dans quelques années. Terreux, tabac et cuir et tannins pas fondus pour le moment.

Not entirely sure where this bottle came from, but it was a well pleasant drink. Dark and brooding, elegant and interesting spice and generous wood flavours (in the best possible way). Very much worth a look from Great Southern. Lots of life left too, easily. 93 for me

1hr decant. Black cherry, plum, blackberry and a bit of dusty oak. Medium-full body. A good wine that will benefit from a few more years. Tannins are well integrated.

An amazing bottle, esp. for the price. This still has loads of honey/citrus-type fruits (esp. for dry Chenin) and white florals, as well as good structure, balanced with lively bubbles and acid. There is a luxurious creaminess and very long finish. Beautiful!

Light ruby. Cherry, cranberry on the nose. It gets more expressive with time in the glass. Medium body, on the heavier side for Pinot, but just a great wine.

We're fans of the Egly-Ouriet wines, though we've been drinking fewer of them as the prices have risen. This is a newish cuvee at the less expensive end of the range -- equal parts Pinot Noir, chardonnay, and pinot Meunier from a small plot in Trigny -- that we hadn't tried before. Our bottle was 2019 wine disgorged in 2023.

The wine has a slight copper tinge, fine bubbles. Surprisingly restrained acidity for a young champagne. It has all the Egly character -- richness, an unabashed yeastiness (after 3 years on the lees), but no heaviness -- and is ridiculously easy to drink. So good.

Served from a 375ml bottle with no decant. Paired nicely with veal parmigiana. If I had to do it again, I would have given it a 1 hour decant.

This seemed light in profile and character. But in its defense, it followed a richer older chardonnay and I was asked to bring a white wine to go with fish, which turned out to be SALMON. Nonetheless, I'll wait 2 years before opening another.

Decanted 1+ hours and still very closed. The notes below are from slow oxidizing in glass over night, which resulted in a lovely, supple wine. Based on my results I would recommend decanting 3-4 hours. This wine is more closed and restrained than the 2005.
Blackberry, oak, plum, you can smell the age (una good way): earth, saddle leather, wilted flowers
Palate is black currant, blackberry. Dry, med+ to high acidity, medium dusty tannins integrating nicely, full body, med+ to long finish.

Terrific showing. Very Chablis. Vibrant acidity and minerality. Richness and tension. Still youthful. Saline finish. Blind one might think 1er. Very Dauvissat and very good.

Despite the opulence, power and high alcohol it is fresh and focused. Intense pear juice, anise, candied ginger, honeyed. Wonderful crushed rock mineral notes, and delicate lemon peel. Toast (no new oak though). Nice crisp acidity gives lift to the weighty palate.

15.0% abv.

NB
Grenache blanc blend. Other grapes are Clairette, Rousanne, Picpoul and Bourboulenc.

Nose: Ripe red apple pastry, brioche and citrus.

Palate: Ripe red apples, brioche, almond pastries, stone fruits and minerals. Fresh crisp acidity, very well integrated mousse and long finish.

From a single plot called Le Mont des Tours. Deg 12-21. When you first put it up to your nose, it's like walking into a pastry shop followed up by citrus. Quite Vinous nose. Great mousse there are a lot of bubbles, but they are soft and well integrated. Nice freshness to maintain balance and long finish. Great value at 90 euro, I would almost call it a steal.

Couleur jaune or. Nez sur le citron. C’est encore tout en fruit. Pas mal plus résistant que des bourguignons du même âge. La capsule à vis semble tenir ses promesses.

This pours deep ruby in the glass with light bricking. The nose is pleasant initially, however becomes more stewed with air. Aromas are of plum, prune, stewed cherry, baked strawberry, leather, red licorice, and a vague touch of animal fur. The palate shows the very ripe and sweet tinged fruit on entry with significant licorice, tar, and baked strawberry on the mid-palate. Tannin is very low with medium minus acid. The finish goes quite stewed, especially with air. All in all I think this wine was better younger, or at least that's how I remember it. Seems the hot 2007 vintage has caught up to it here, offering up a profile that is just too ripe for my tastes and the secondary and tertiary development isn't providing much to balance things out.

This is great for the price. Lots of fruit and some acidity. I think it will only get better over the next 2 to 3 years. Tasty!

I quite like this. In general I love Langoa, but wonder whether this is on the downward slope? Not according to others; but I find this is more satin/dusty structure than fruity. Almost collapsed. But more-ish nevertheless. Am going to try the 06 tonight.

Just a baby but already quite expressive with lime, green apple, lavender, and a sharp, flinty finish. Delicious now but will age effortlessly.

Intense yellow, lovely floral/honey notes on the nose, but surprisingly crispy dry taste. Lovely with my fish w. wine sauce. The quality/price is spectacular when you consider the 5 years of aging baked into it. I’d like to try more from this region.

Overall good now but might actually gain a point or two in a few years.

Color is deep garnet with hints of brown. Nose is still delicious, a mix of boysenberry/red fruit, cedar, prunes, forest fire smoke, game. Palate is medium bodied but still massively tannic, this has legs to last and is still almost too drying. On palate, red fruits, cedar, game. Perhaps a bit lacking on the palate in power but still very nice. Good pairing with lamb, but insanely good pairing with mushroom soup. A wine that needs food. From the cellar at Restaurant Michel Guerard.

Drank at Le Millesime, Chambolle Musigny. Very dark ruby, it starts with intense notes of black and blue fruits and a touch of light oak. It is Gevrey style-broad shouldered, but with a sophisticated finesse. Very nice.

This was beautiful - superb nose, long, crisp, wonderful acid etc. Can definitly be drunk now but there is clearly upside. Blind I might have guessed a top puligny 1er eg. it has some years till it reaches full GC level. Not too ripe n rich like some 15s - top shelf wine making here.

Deep ruby in colour.
On the nose, leather, tobacco, dark plum, almond, cedar, licorice, cloves. It’s developing.
On the palate, high acidity, almost like Italian wine, quite edgy and sharp without enough fruits to balance it. The alcohol is medium plus and body is medium plus as well. It has medium intensity with plum and cedar notes. The finish is medium.
Good wine, should be great with food but might be too acidic to drink alone.

Two bottles open, one very reductive whereas the other one very representative of the climat and style of the domaine: dark ruby with some garnet reflections, the nose is full of ripe fruits (especially cherry). Mouth very extracted and concentrated with lot of spices but not without freshness. Quite short persistence.
