Deep purple. Butter, oak, spices on the nose. Full bodied, heavy tannins, and medium tannins. Notes of blackberry, licorice, and ganache or coffee. Powerful, grippy finish, probably because of the petit verdot.

Maybe an unfair rating but price point is very much taken into account — this is perfectly drinkable but falls victim to classic entry level Napa tropes and leaves it pretty over-priced.

Nose consists of a somewhat watery melange of jammy strawberry and blackberry, before succumbing to a metric ton of new flashy oak: huge vanilla, toast and sawdust notes. Also a fairly substantial amount of heat coming through.

Palate is fine but fairly dilute, with high acid and a light-moderate skiff of tannin.

Lots of dried fruit, pepper and herbaceous flavors, with a little bit of complexity in the long finish added into to the mix. Served very slightly chilled. A lot of flavor for a NV, moderately priced bottle.

Wow, was not expecting to like it as much as I did..dark dark color and heavy legs.. red plums and cocoa, full body and while it might be good to let it sit for awhile longer, was certainly fine now. Opened last night and drank well right away, second night with BBQ burgers, it was not intimidated at all and matched up perfectly. Will certainly look forward to another bottle of this Malbec

Took about 3 hours to open. Has an elegant aromatic note of blackberries. Tannins still aren’t resolved. Overall, I’m enjoying this wine, and I’m looking forward to tasting future bottles. I’m going to wait another year till I open the next bottle.

This wine hit my sweet spot! Opened up in 30 minutes with a nose that was floral going into leather and dark fruit! Flavors followed with ripe dark fruit primarily black cherry with some blackberry! The finish was magnificent with soft tannins and black fruit. An amazing wine!

Silky raspberry, cranapple, stoney and bitter cherry pits. Too bitter on the finish for a crowd pleaser but I really liked it. Best in 5-10 years

Splash decanted for the first glass. Followed out of the decanter for 2 hours. Drank from Glasvin Expressions. Immediately expressive nose of blackberry pie, herb, vanilla. Over time this only became louder and friendlier, as if the wine itself was catching a buzz.

The palate was also inviting, a smooth entry into concentrated dark fruit, considerable but at this point well balanced smoothness from oak treatment (18 months per the label, 58% new per the website), but ultimately a firm frame of tannin holding it all up. By an hour of decanting this all flowed smoothly together without clear seams. A faint graphite (wife called it iron, I wouldn’t go that far) crept in at the nicely long finish, along with nice herbal notes. Very good wine.

Has evolved to medium body after 13 years, still youthful garnet color, some lovely zinberry on the nose, also a hint of a roasted fruit note; this is really beautiful Zin, plenty of lush, lightly spicy zin fruit, at first I picked up some notes of slightly roasted fruit, but with air that disappears quickly, leaving a vibrant, fresh, youthful wine just starting to enter its peak years. Strong, mouthwatering acidity, good medium light tannins, a lingering finish, Zin doesn’t get a whole lot better than this. Begs for a grilled steak, pork chop, lamb chop. Yum.

Courtesy of tlv. Bright ruby purple color. Notes of raspberry, brambleberry, blue fruit, rhubarb, white pepper and sour cherry. There’s an herbaceous southern Rhone character as well. Full-bodied with plenty of spice and dark fruit. Finishes with good length and plenty of perfectly ripe fruit. Open and eminently enjoyable on the pop and pour.

Rich gold color. Ripe lemon tart, orchard fruit, yellow apple and oak notes on the nose. Palate is rich, but yet quite balanced with great acid, with mineral notes on the back end. Extremely long finish. This is a beautiful wine. Glad it showed like this after my experience with the 2013 Lauren. I can see why it got such good ratings. Definitely not a Burgundy, but excellent in its own class.

At estate tasting room. Superb, great balance of bright red fruit and stem-driven spice. Yet sneaky structure lurking undeath the surface. In the perfumed/detailed/elegant category--the best of Melville's style, for my taste.

Absolutely alive and kicking 20 years on. Effusive nose of an after-rain rose garden. Strawberry preserves and porcini mushrooms in the palate with none of the green of the vintage. Meo nailed 2004s and this was a bargain find (Richebourg in a different school district, I’d like to think).

Wish I had been able to decant this but circumstances allowed only popping the cork an hour before tasting. A sublime and relaxing mix of red berries, flower shop and a faint sandalwood scent. Light and juicy on the palate. This is 70% Zin but 100% zen.

Pop n pour Day 1 to get a taste.
Nose: Flowers, licorice, cherry, wet earth, old wood house.
Palate: Dried raspberry, ripe cherry, licorice, earth. Tannins are very grippy and need some time. Fairly high acidity. Medium body. Will try tomorrow with a fatty piece of beef.

At estate tasting room. As in past vintages, I like but don't love this cuvee. Big core of red fruit, dense, structure in need of resolution. But feels less complex, without the same internal energy as the bottlings I prefer.

Presents as a bigger, more fruit-forward Pinot, and objectively speaking is quite good. But at the current price point, I'll tend to buy my favorites.

As mentioned before, the bottle I had definitely had the apricot/nutty botrytis notes on the nose. Much rounder and sweet on the palate than I'd guess? A little short on the finish.

Not sure if this is just this bottling (per a previous note) or it being advanced? In any case, the botrytis notes added a nice dimension of complexity right now.

Primarily Merlot, with Cabernet Franc, and a smaller percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon, in this vintage's blend.
On nose: ripe plum and a subtle note of eucalyptus.
On palate: above flavour notes amplified, with pipe tobacco, boysenberries, nuances of Asian spices, and Kona coffee, round up the profile..... a medium bodied, lightly tannic vintage, at 6 years of age and after a 1 hour decant....can age further.
Went very well this evening with Pork tenderloin, Jasmine rice and cabbage/ carrot medley.

Restaurant setting. Excellent Chambolle perfume of cherry, raspberry and violet that only intensified with air. Touches of iron or meat on the palate as well, along with sweet spice. Tremendously powerful without being at all heavy: tannins are not yet fully resolved, and it still has some young boisterousness to it. For all that, it was also astonishingly versatile, marrying well with scallops, then with lobster and artichokes, finally with venison loin and short rib - I can’t think of too many wines that could do that. Very enjoyable; still on the ascent. Needless to say with Roumier, easily transcends its level.
