Introduction

A tasting with the wineowner maker giving commentaries. My first ever experience with Mugnier and it was good.

Flight 1 - The Mugniers (8 notes)

Lovely bouquet of dark flowers , dark cherries, a bit of black tar. Brambly like of an NSG but this one is tempered with flowers. Black spices marinated licourice, macerated cherries. Very tight still but much more approachable type of NSG. With time, more honest pure fruits shows and brings up the drinking pleasure index.

Hits first with chinese boiled herbal medicine, gingseng roots, dried bark and balanced off with sweet pretty lovely florals. On the palate, still roots, herbs cocooned around focused briary fruits. It does taste austere and backward and herbaceously but this must be one of the most elegant and floral NSG I have ever encountered. The bitter ending reminds me of the gingseng roots herb tea my aunt makes. Comparing with the whole range of Mugniers, this really is the most expressive of them and stands out for being outspoken. Not easy to love but I'm kinda loving it.

A Stink bomb of cherry coke, sweet licourice, a slightly naturally confected nose. Seemingly a village cos of the length. Moderate but upfront, honest , courageous purplish garnet fruits of say light black raspberries. Simple. To say it as I taste it, this is pretty but nothing outstanding.

Preserved salted vegetable water, some smoke atop decomposing flowers. Something pungent, Elegant delivery of ethereal sweet strawberry cherry fruits with poise and lightly teases the palate. Doesnt show too much skin and hiding behind a thin light purple veil that makes it difficult to tell if she is a beauty but figure wise , she looks elegantly poised. The only pity is the moderate length.

A tightly packed nose of crushed berries, violets, dark roses, darker fruits, some briary and a lift of alc. Tight and revealing only a berry or two at each sniff. Satisfying palate of al dente fruits, etherally sweet that lingers through the palate and entices like a long slender leg potruding through the door with her thin slender hand beckoning for you to come. It is excellent and I feel potential brewing. The nose gets more attractive by the minute.

Wow! Some assiness, funky undergrowth, pungent sweet smell of a basketful of sweet floral petals of different shades of colours... I sigh with a sigh of happiness and joyful relief. A blossoming palate that slowly implodes in your mouth with black roses, violets and lilacs , which then circulates around the senses...warming all the senses with beautfiul amore love...Magical and transcending wine. As they said, this is sex in a bottle..and I agree fully.

Extremely very tight and all clumped together with tar, dark wood, almost shirazey spiciness, dark macerated flowers. Exotic. Superbly pure and unadulterated heavenly fruits of dark cherries. This is strenght and vigour and an iron fist in a velvet glove. Still extremely hard to dissect and figure out. This needs time and I refuse to rate it.

Pretty elegant, and budding with florals in its early stages. Everything is harmonious and in tune. All nicely done with a touch of minerality that circles inside the mouth . This has that magical transcending effect like the 02 Le Amourouse. The same etheraeally sweet heavenly fruit come through again but this time with a touch of bitter roots. Excellent well balanced but also seems more unready than the Les Amourouses. Again hard to rate now and more time should be given to slowly wait for this to completely come out of its shell.

Closing

Very pricey wines but I see why people pay for them . When bad, it is at least better than most and at its best...this is dying and resurrecting .
