Flight 1 - Whites (2 notes)

White
2008 Gérard Boulay Sancerre Chavignol France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Sancerre
Magnum. Crisp, snappy lime and chalk. Really satisfying for basic Sancerre cuvee. Excellent palate presence.
White
2007 Domaine Huet Vouvray Sec Le Mont France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Vouvray
Medium yellow. Orange blossom and pear on the nose. Medium body, not that dry for a Huet Sec. Marvelous balance, quite approachable, not austere right now. The acidity is deeply embedded but not punishing.

Flight 2 - Reds (2 notes)

Red
2007 Louis Jadot Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Barre France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
Clear light color. Brambly cranberry nose with wintergreen and licorice. Fine, delicate Volnay weight with a touch of wood. Tart black cherry to blackberry fruit, high acidity, outstanding focus and clarity. Will surely improve but not too shabby right now.
Red
2007 Domaine les Grands Bois Cairanne Cuvée Maximilien France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Cairanne
This has continued to close down. Nose very stunted at first. Then somewhat weedy black fruit. Boy, this has really shed its baby fat and is not at a very appealing stage at present.
